If any of you remember my previous posts, I have a shitty nighttime sleeper who IS night weaned (he does not nurse at night). He's 10 months old and still takes 3 naps a day. He wakes at 7 and naps at 9, 12:30 and 4 (each about an hour long) with bedtime at 7:30. I always read "sleep begets sleep" so I let him nap as much as he wants. However, maybe he's getting too much sleep during the day and therefore not sleeping at night. Cutting a nap is my last resort before doing sleep training.
When your LO was napping 2x a day, what times were they? I'm thinking maybe 10 and 3? I don't think I could keep him awake much past 10, by 9am he's rubbing his eyes, yawning, and really cranky. He'll be doing all of that by 2pm too but I can try to keep him awake until 3. TIA!
I'd keep it. Dd still takes two at 16.5 mos which I think is weird, but she's not anywhere close to being ready to dropping one. If anything, I'd see if I could push him to 2 on the second nap. That's what we dd when dd dropped her 5pm nap. It was really obvious when she was ready. One day I put her in the crib and she wouldn't go to sleep. She never took that third nap again. Eta: dd wakes at 7, naps at 9 and 2 (but is very flexible if we're out - today second nap at 4) and goes down at 8. She's had that schedule since about 10 mos.
