So recently when the boat came back I had a really tough night what with another submarine being on fire and the fact that big Navy had done nothing to give us a return window when it was expected. In the end, for whatever reason, we (even the ombudsman) only received a 2 hour official notice of the return window when we were expecting more of a 24 hour notice. I figured that someone forgot or got busy. Gritting teeth, whatever.
Then I'm cruising around on Facebook tonight and I see that my oh so favorite teen wife/mother had posted a blatant countdown on her husband's public Facebook page several days before they were due to return. It's not like they have Facebook in the middle of the ocean. It's not like he had a chance to even read or know about that Facebook message before he got back onto dry land.
I thought it was fun to watch and laugh at her little train wreck when it only affected her and those closest to her, but now that I feel like it's affecting me and mine I don't even know where to begin. Me =>
What do other MNers do when faced with this situation?
And for the record she and her husband are friends with the FRG Facebook page so I know that she must have seen at least some of the OPSEC warnings and guidelines that have been posted recently. It's not like she's never heard the term.
Have you had to go to your command about OPSEC violations before? Anytime someone comes to us with a violation we ask for them to C&P it or get a screen shot, and we ask for the person's name. We always try going through the offending spouse first, explaining the situation and asking them to take it down and the reasons. Only about half the time do they come back and apologize and take it down immediately. The other half (usually the asshole teen moms) delete and block us, keeping the status up, so we then contact the command about it who "talks with their sailor." I have no idea how those discussions go, but I know if my H was yelled at by his COC because I was an immature twit posting things on Facebook, he would be livid.

Thanks guys. I slept on it and I feel about 40% less pissed than I was before. Mainly because what she posted was regarding a movement that is no longer in progress. I will consider sending a SS to the Ombudsman when I get a chance (not sure if Navy even has such a thing as a Rear D only that we left a few guys home last time).
In my angry mind the best possible outcome is that she and her husband would be severely restricted from receiving movement information in the future unless she promises to shape up. Not sure if that's even possible, but it would sure be nice.

Thanks again.
I misread your post and thought you meant you were an Ombudsman. Yeah send it to them and they can send it to the command.
I always hope that the asshole people and repeat offenders will have something happen to them, like their sailor on restriction the first 24 hours home or something and can't leave the ship. It never seems to happen though.
