So, do we really need all of them? We have a 2 story house with all bedrooms on the second level. I doubt I'll be going up and down every time baby needs to sleep, right? We will have a bassinet in our room at first, and the nursery is the bedroom next to ours.
I can see the bouncer being good to carry around, but not the RNP or swing. Did you use all three? Where did you keep them most of the time?
DD didn't give a crap about the bouncer but still uses both her RnP and swing at 5 months (yay for reflux). We are using the swing less and less, though. For several months, though, it was the only place she would nap so I love that thing. We kept it in our living room. The RnP is pretty awesome if you have a reflux baby. It folds up to store under a bed. I liked being able to drag it around the house (it's really lightweight) and found it less cumbersome than the bouncer.
Honestly, this is a baby-specific question which I know isn't helpful.
Honestly I would say it depends on the baby and your household. Do you have other parents you could borrow from to see what LO likes, then buy what he likes? DS *loved* the RnP, hated the swing, and was "meh" on the bouncer. We didn't use the bouncer b/c it put him right at dog eye level, and the dog would not stop messing with him. The RnP was higher than the dog, DS loved it, and I loved it. I could move DS around with me, like in the kitchen while cooking or in the bathroom while showering. He fell asleep in it all the time, and DH and I could eat dinner together or watch a little TV. We just moved the RnP around. I cried rivers of tears when DS outgrew it at 4 months (he's a big big boy).
I also think it's fine to get any of them used at yard or consignment sales. They should all have covers that can be removed and washed. We got our RnP and swing from a friend, and bought the bouncer new. I will be sending the bouncer to our next consignment sale.

We used all three on a daily basis.
DD slept at night in her RnP, napped in her swing (once she started taking regular naps) and hung out in there on and off when she was really little. She was in the bouncer on and off all day while I was doing things that I needed my hands for. The bouncer is super easy to carry from room to room.
I had planned on DD sleeping in the PnP in our room until we figured out she had really bad reflux. Then I thanked God that I had registered for the RnP.

We never had a RNP or a swing. We did use the FP Infant to Toddler Comfort Rocker, which is pretty much like a bouncer. It moved around from room to room when she was little. Now it just hangs out in her room.
If you are going to be downstairs during the day you will probably want somewhere for the baby to sleep downstairs. At least I think I would. Our house is only one level and we set up a PNP in the den so that she was closer to us if need be (bedrooms are at the other end of the house).

We don't have a bouncer, but we have a swing & RNP that get used every day. The swing stays in our living room & he naps/hangs out in there during the day. The RNP is super easy to move around, so I bring it into the bathroom when I shower, kitchen when I cook, etc. (& it comes with us for long days out or overnights). I love both, but I can't live w/o the RNP!

I have a two story house. Upstairs is the crib and pack and play.
Downstairs is her swing and bouncer. Now she favors the swing, but the first couple weeks she primarily slept in the bouncy seat. I don't have a rock and play. I would probably have a couple options because your baby can change or strongly prefer one more than another.
We don't have a swing but use the rnp all the time. It is so easy to move around! We use the bouncer everyday too, he likes to sit in it and kick while we eat or do dishes, etc.
We had all 3. Swing, bouncer, RNP were used in that order most to least. It will really depend on the baby. No reflux, and slept in crib from night one, so I really only used the RNP when I needed a place to put her down in my bedroom. The RNP is actually lighter than the bouncer, is good for travel or visiting. Bouncer was used when I was getting things done around the house, eating, cooking, etc.
The swing was a godsend and one of the only places I could get her to nap in the first 4 months. Worth every penny to me.
The only thing we bought (well, registered for) was a bouncer, because it's inexpensive and every baby I've known loves them. Plus they don't take up much room.
We have friends who offered us use of their swing, which we accepted. I didn't want to spend, or for someone else to spend, ~$120 on a swing that baby may hate (because about half the babies I've known hate the swing). I had no interest in getting the RnP because I wanted our baby to be able to sleep flat on his back from the start. We used the bassinet from our stroller for the first six weeks, then switched to the PnP's bassinet level, which he's still in. I've been putting him down for naps in his crib, in preparation for a full transition to the crib in the next month.
So in my opinion, no, you don't need all those items. But as I said in another thread, we have a fairly small house with all living space on one level, so we don't need multiple "stations" for baby.
-RnP can be used in place of a bassinet, there is really no need for both. She slept at our bedside in the RnP until just last week. Now she will sometimes nap in it in her nursery. She is in the crib at night now.
-bouncer- she napped in this daily for the first 4 months or so, it is also really portable, so when dh wanted to take her down to the family room to play piano or we wanted her to watch the ceiling fan while we cooked, she was in it.
-swing- she has also napped in this from day one and still does.
RnP is on our second floor, bouncer, swing, and a PnP are in the living room/dining room. PnP we use when we need to set her down out of the pug's reach, need to apply lotion, change diaper, get dressed, etc. It is just for the first 6-12 months those things will be in our living room, then they'll go into storage, so I don't mind them taking up space for such a short period of time
and I got the bouncer cheap at a consignment sale last spring, swing and RnP were gifts. PnP we bought ourselves but we got one that was only $60, not the pimped out expensive ones.
Never had a RNP. DS napped either in his swing, his pack and play ( on the first floor) and very rarely his co sleeper (on the second floor). We had a bouncey chair as well and he liked that but never napped in it for me (H could get him too though).
We have all 3. RNP is upstairs in our bedroom, bouncer in the family room, swing in the front room. He is not a big fan of the swing and bouncer but I like never being too far from a safe place to put him down. I'm glad we have all 3. And we plan to have multiple kids, so #2 may have different preferences.
And we had none because my babies preferred a blanket on the floor and the moby. You ma need and swear by all three, or you may need something totally different.
I do think you're not going to want to move stuff around. On average, a newborn will nap anywhere, and you'll want them close. But around three months you'll most likely be needing a dark quiet place for naps.
Do you plan to have more than one child? If yes, then I would just register for all of those things. Chances are you will end up having at least one kid who likes each of those items. After three kids, we've ended up using all of our baby gear, even the things I thought we wouldn't like the Bumbo (DD loves sitting in that thing and being able to watch her brothers play next to her).
At 5.5 months, we use her swing, RNP, bouncy seat, Bumbo, and jumper daily. We leave the bouncy seat and jumper downstairs. Everything else is upstairs.
The RNP didn't exist with DD1, but I borrowed one for DD2. Worth its weight in gold! The swing was awesome for us too. I don't think you need both the RNP and the bouncer at all. The RNP is very portable (but not with one hand like the bouncer).
We have them all. Pnp for diaper changes, bouncer for naps in the early days and now for hanging out, rnp for sleeping.
I live the rnp so much. We bring that with us when we go to other people's homes. Dd sleeps in it for all naps and bedtime now. We are starting to get her used to the crib with naps but the rnp is so snuggly and she sleeps do much better there. Plus it's easy to drag around for when she wants our attention but we need her to sit on her own (like showering and getting ready in the morning).
