I probably need to go to Sephora, but I thought I'd ask you ladies first. I am very fair with warm undertones, brown hair and eyes. I usually wear Bobbi Brown Sand foundation, but I'd like something less expensive. Clinique Even better alabaster is too dark/pinky (I was color matched at Macy's, but I'm not loving it). I'm looking at Tarte Amazonian foundation and can't decide between fair and light. Any advice? Also what shade of Amazonian blush would look right?
I'm open to other suggestions for foundation. I have tried and hated Bare Minerals. I can't find the right shade of Clinique BB cream, which is a shame because I really liked the texture of it.

Thanks, Carrots. I just got back from Sephora and I bought the Amazonian fair and my Bobbi Brown as well as a few staples (Benefit erase paste fair and UD 24/7 rockstar). I tried the tarte blush, but thought they were all too bright - plus I have several blushes at home that I never wear. I'll start using those before I buy more.

tarte exposed is a good one if the others seem too bright. But don't fear the bright blush, it's amazing. BB is a great foundation choice for the pale skinned:).
I also wear sand in bobi brown foundation. Right now i mix the clinique bb cream with moisturizer for a light coverage look. I have been thinking about trying the tarte foundation for a more full coverage look. How do you like it so far?

I only got matched yesterday. I got a sample of fair and light, and bought the fair after trying it in the store. I'll post again at the end of the day so I can give a better review (and I haven't showered yet - we just took down the Christmas tree).
Have you found any drugstore foundation that matches the BB sand? I was thinking of trying L'oreal true match or one of the new mousse foundations because I'm sick of paying $40 for foundation. That's originally why I tried Clinique Even Better ($27).

Not really. Most of the light shades in drugstore brands are too pink or end up looking kind of gray on me (if that makes sense.) I have used the lightest shade of neutrogena healthy skin mixed with a tiny bit of the nude shade (since the one is a little too light but has the right undertones.) I have aslo thought about trying the true match but havent yet. I get frustrated trying things and then end up getting the expensive stuff in the end anyway. And then it defeats the purpose of spending less money.

thechipper- so far I like the Tarte fair. I checked the color in artificial and sunlight and I think it matches my skin well. I hope it doesn't change color throughout the day or settle/crease and make me look old (I'm 41). My only concern is that it could be drying, but it's too soon to tell. It is about $10 less expensive than Bobbi Brown. If it holds up it could be my new foundation. I also want to try Monistat anti-chafing as a primer, if needed.
Hmmmm...hard to say without a picture. I wear " fair" in Clinique (pale with pink undertones). I am also fair in Bare Minerals.
Korres is good for yellow tones since it is a Greek line. I barely match with the lightest shade of their mineral foundation. But there is a lot of rave for it versus BM if you are willing to try another loose powder. I would bet the second lightest shade would work (I think it is light).
I've never matched with BB or Tarte so I am no help there.
MUFE also runs very yellow. I can't get a match period b/c nothing has pink undertones
This disappoint me because I just bought some MUFE foundation. I exchanged my UD Naked because that was too yellow-y, and I thought the MUFE looked ok when I swatched it, but it's so hard to tell until you do a full face you know.
I might be going back, and I think I'll just suck it up and get the Dior foundation I loved, but didn't want to pay for again in my current employment state.

Urban Decay has some good foundation/tinted moisturizer for yellow tones. I have yellow/golden/olive undertones in my skin. The light in the Tarte foundation looks like it has a little more yellow undertones than Fair does. Fair look like it might have a pink undertone.

It wasn't pink - more neutral, but a little too light. I exchanged it for light, which is much better. I think the perfect shade might be to mix a tiny bit of fair with the light, but since it would make minimal difference I'm not going to spend the money on a second tube.

CVS takes returns of makeup pretty much no questions asked. Ulta also has a ton of drugstore stuff and a good return policy.
You could also try the Almay Smart Shade. It's gotten good reviews and "self adjusts", but I haven't tried it. There's a liquid formula and a mousse formula.
