We will be going in January sometime and I am not a fan of camping. I love to hike, but I like a bed and a hot shower.

Grand Canyon. It is spectacular. In January, it will be cold!

This is true!

Although I have told people that GC is cold, and they are shocked, and say something like, "But it's Arizona...Arizona doesn't get cold!" Yeah, right!

Well, Albuquerque is similarly situated so I expect the weather is about the same (40F in the winter). Although I am not sure if the elevation of the GC rim, it might be colder and more like Santa Fe.

We stayed there when I was a teenager. They messed up our reservation, so they gave us a room overlooking the canyon; it was phenomenal. The Bright Angel Lodge is just down the road. Not quite as fancy, but great views from the rim view rooms and not as expensive.

Thanks! I will check that out. Mostly I want a place that is close enough to walk to the rim easily and has a nice view.
