I have chocolate brown curtains and I am seriously considering a chocolate brown tufted upholstered headboard, but have a bunch of swatches coming from Home Decorators to look at before I decide. I am getting Benjamin Moore paint, but I am not sure what paint color to choose. Should I go with a brown/beige, shade of purple/lavender or do you have another suggestion?
I love purple/lavender, but coming from someone that only did an accent wall in that color, it's a BITCH to put on...AND...you would have a hard time changing up the decor down the line. So if you're one of those people that likes to continually change up bedding, it would be safer to go with a beige color and bring the color in with accents. Light beige wall, brown tufted headboard, purple window treatments...

I was hoping to keep my curtains, for the time being anyway. I don't really plan to get new bedding for quite some time. I don't get tired of things very quickly. DH said I can do whatever I want when I asked if he had any preferences. I know purple is not his favorite color in the world, though he doesn't hate it. He wouldn't have a problem if I painted the room a shade of purple (the bathroom, not the Master Bath, we don't have one, is north cascades), but I don't want to beat him over the head with it either, so either a soft subtle lavender (although I really love BM Wisteria, but am not sure if it would be too gray) might be nice or a beige/neutral could work. I just don't want the room to be "blah" either. Our LR and hallway is BM Annapolis Gray, a brownish gray, if that makes any difference. I was considering Manchester Tan or Shaker Beige, but would like to get my bedding in before I decide 100% on a color. Right now I am just getting suggestions so when I go to the BM store I can get different chips.
The purple that we painted was very bold and I think that's why my H actually liked it...for whatever reason, I think a pale purple, for him anyway, would have been considered too girly. The main part of the room was painted Perfect Greige, but in the room it had very mauvey undertones.

I know that DH likes a paint color that you don't have to guess what it is, but I wasn't thinking that light. I agree, I think a pale purple would be too girly.
I can't wait for my bedding to get here. If it is lighter, like in the picture, I will go with a medium or darker paint color, but if it is on the darker side, I will go lighter, but not super light. I got the espresso quilted king shams and coverlet, which are dark, but got the rest in the quadrus stripe (bedskirt is champagne), so it shouldn't be overwhelmingly dark I wouldn't think. I will take a look at that paint color.
I love the idea of decorating a room, but when it comes down to it, I am terrible at making decisions. I also have a had a bad track record picking out purple paint. Both times I painted a room purple, the first time around the room turned out looking like pepto bismal and nothing like the paint chip (different paint brands and colors about 10 years apart). The second choice always turned out, though. I just want to get it right the first time if I go with purple again. Thanks for the input!
ETA: I didn't realize that the color you suggested was SW. I LOVE it though! There is a SW nearby the BM store, so I might have to take a look. I wonder if SW is the same or less expensive as BM paint? I don't get their top of the line. I usually get the Regal and I have been very happy with it.

I am biased to SW paint! I LOVE it and after using it I won't use anything else!
We also ordered our bedding from Macy's and are going to be going with a deep purple color from SW. I can't remember the name of it now but I think it's majestic purple... maybe??
Thanks, I will check out that site. I am not sure if I will hit the $50.00 mark, but if I do I will definitely use the coupon! Thank you!
Did you get the set I did or a different one? You weren't kidding, that is deep purple. It is very nice though.
No, I purchased a different set. I think I like yours better!
I found my set back in December and on-line it looked like it was a very deep purple with lighter shades of what I thought was purple (on-line pic) but when it arrived it turned out to have a lot more gray in it that I had anticipated. I'm worried about using it now because we have tan carpet and I'm not sure I want to replace it since we aren't planning on staying there but another year or 2 (prob closer to 2 years at this point).
Eventually I will get around to posting pics of it to get your guys opinion with my carpet dilemma. I think I've waited way too long to return the set and curtains.

Thanks! I hope I like it when it comes in. Pictures can be deceiving. We have tan-ish carpet also. I am not great at determining undertones, but it seems more on the neutral side to me. I am wanting to go gray or grayish blue paint (I have silver curtains and love the Old Hollywood duvet set from Kohls in the JLO line, though I don't usually do the celeb line products) in our guest bedroom when we finally get around to decorating it. We don't have any intention on changing the carpet. If you don't like the carpet you have in the bedroom, you could always try a rug.
kyliek29, I like that paint color. What is it called?
The duvet in my guest room is a mauvey color and with the exception of the brown in your bedding, I have a very similar palette. This is the only picture I have of the paint in my guest room. You can kind of make out the Perfect Greige

I talked to DH last night again (though maybe it was a bad time because he got home late in the evening and was tired...oops!), brainstorming color options. He really surprised me. He said we have enough brown in the house (LR, biggest room in our house and hallway are Annapolis Gray, grayish brown) and wants a "color." I was kinda getting my hear set on a warm, rich (but not too dark) brown. I was also considering Shaker Beige which seems pretty popular. I guess it is time to look at my purple options then. I am actually a little disappointed. I want to create a luxury hotel feel in our MB and I thought a neutral would help me achieve that a bit. Should I think outside the box and consider something other than a shade of lavender/purple? What would you suggest? I am still waiting to receive my bedding and the anticipation is killing me! It should be in by Friday I would guess.
