So exciting! We haven't applied to our agency yet, but I think the best homestudy advice I've seen is to remember that they are not there to disqualify you. Just try to relax (as much as possible) and be yourselves.

The first meeting is more or less a get to know you kind of deal. You'll likely get all your HS paperwork, if you haven't already. The SW may start with some of the questions from your autobiography to get a feel for you and to look for things to discuss more in depth at a later date. It's also your opportunity to ask questions and get an idea of timelines, etc.

Relax, and look at it as a chance to gab all about yourself with a new friend. I remember being so nervous, but it really was just a nice chance to tell our social worker all about us and why we wanted to adopt.
Don't stress over cleaning or anything else. They really want to get to know you, not how well you can clean for a white-gloved test. Mostly, they just want to figure out your intentions, if you are good people, and that you would love and keep a child safe.
First appointment went well! I was very nervous, but it was a relaxed meeting and our social worker is very nice. Now, onto the remaining three! Thanks for the feedback!
