Has anyone ever taken or is anyone currently taking Lexapro while nursing? My daughter is 11 months and we're in the process of weaning. My anxiety is out of control and my PCP gave me a prescription for Lexapro tonight.
I'm getting conflicting information on whether it's a class 2 or 3 drug.
Have you noticed any side effects in your LO?
If you don't want to talk about it publicly you can always PM me. TIA!
I was on Lexapro prior to getting pregnant, then when I found out I was pregnant I was put on Prozac... and now that I'm nursing, I'm on Zoloft...
I cant remember specifics, but I know that Zoloft is the safest of all anti-depressants while breastfeeding. I've never noticed any side effects in my 5 month old!
When you were on Lexapro, what did you think of it? Any noticeable side effects?
I went off Lexapro to get pregnant with DS and planned to stay off while nursing but my lactation consultant checked and Lexapro was fine for nursing moms. I have been back on it since my DS was about a week old and he is now 26 months and thriving with no apparent issues. And by the way - still nursing.
I was on Lexapro for a few months years ago when TTC. It worked, but I felt like a zombie on it and stopped taking it. I would rather be depressed than be completely numb and coasting. Thankfully I got out of my funk soon after and was fine.
