I was wondering how often Bonnie "should" be nursing now. I know it's different for everyone, but an average perhaps? She started solids around 5 months and her interest in food is increasing and BFing is decreasing. My period returned this week - boo. She still nurses several times per day (maybe 8-10 or so?) but many of those are really quick 5-minute snacks. She has one long cluster-feed each morning from about 6-8am. She eats a solid meal each day at dinner time, a few tablespoons of veggies or fruits mixed with cereal. She also eats a bit of whatever I'm eating at my meals (bites of table food - veggies, avocado, banana, oatmeal, whatever)
Does this sound about normal for this age as far as BM intake? I don't want my supply to totally tank and I want her to get the greatest benefit from the BM that she can. She is SO interested in eating food right now.
I think what you're doing is fine. I think as long as you aren't refusing her when she wants to nurse, she will get enough and your supply will be fine. I have always just nursed on demand (and sometimes for only 5 min snacks like you're describing).
