Could be a growth spurt, it could also just be his schedule. My DS usually has longer nursing sessions in the evenings because he's filling up so he can sleep longer.

I think six weeks is a growth spurt. Even if it not I would just continue to feed on demand. As long as diaper output is normal and there are not signs of dehydration I would not worry.
Eating every hour is totally normal at that age. If he is getting pee and poo diapers, I wouldn't overanalyze and just go with it. He will get back to longer stretches on his own.
And if you can get a full baby to take some more, you'll find that it doesn't end well. All the extra just gets yakked back up on you. Voice of experience here. I didn't try to push it with my 2nd and got yakked on much less.
