So DS thinks it's the end of the world. He's been inconsolable all day, but he's showing all the signs of teething. He's been drooling a bunch and knawing on our fingers. He'll chew on a teething toy if we hold it for him, but he's still fussy. We gave him a little baby Tylenol, something we wouldn't ordinarily do, to give him some relief. He's finally down for a nap, but I'm expecting an awful night.
Any tips for helping a teething baby? I've got some teething rings with water inside in the fridge, and I'm expecting to need the midnight coffee. Good news is DH gets home from work at 3am, so I can trade off with him for a couple hours. But I figured I'd see if there's some secret mommy trick I've yet to learn to help him.
my baby is a bit younger (2/15), and we're starting teething right now, too. what i've been doing is just letting her nurse non stop. she's been s.l.o.w.l.y. nursing..as in suck, suck, snore, snore, suck, snore, snore, snore, etc...and i just let her do that non stop. we've had a couple 1+ hour sessions in the last few days. if i pull her off at all during that time, she'll scream inconsolably.

We were doing Tylenol, but DS hated taking it and would spit it out, so I bought Hyland's teething tablets and I freaking love them. DS takes them so easily, and you can actually see him relax and start to feel better so quickly.
The first two teeth were the hardest so far for my LO and she really doesn't like most teething toys, or at least she didn't. (She is now cutting her third tooth but this hasn't been nearly as bad) She does like to chew on Sophie and could hold her earlier than most toys and that was about it. She didn't like anything cold and forget a wash cloth . (She will suck on an ice cube now that she is older) I don't believe in giving medicine unless needed but I could not take how much she was screaming and crying anymore. I broke down and gave her natural orajel and baby Tylenol at certain times respectively. I do not regret it because it let her sleep!

We started using the amber teething necklace when my 2nd daughter was working on her 2nd tooth. LOVE those things. It worked pretty well up until her most recent molars, but I might just need to revive them in the sun. I highly recommend them.
