Anything you got as a gift that was really awesome when you had #2? Bonus points if #1 and #2 are the same sex.
I'm visiting a friend this week that just had her 2nd son. I want to pick up a small gift for each boy and am drawing a blank. For me, #1 is a boy and #2 is a girl so I got tons of clothes the 2nd time around!

I thought it was better for things for DS#1 honestly. I got DD (who was 2 when DS was born) a vtech camera and she loves taking pictures of him. I found I needed (and wanted) less crap with #2 and just needed the essentials

I also got DD1 a camera when DD2 was born as well. She loves being able to take her own pictures. As for DD2, she was born in a different season, so we did need more clothes.

Best thing I received when DS was born was big sister gifts for DD. Anything that kept her busy was awesome. She was 2 so Color Wonder books and markers were a big hit (and they were a great craft she could do while I nursed or put baby to bed and I didn't have to worry about a mess).
When my second and third daughters were born, I loved practical things - diapers, wipes, a few new outfits (since by the time DD3 came around I was tired of seeing the same clothes). I also received a few monogrammed items. It was nice to have something that was just theirs since they did have so many hand me downs.

this is a great idea! DD1 loves taking pictures so she would love to take pictures of the new baby. I think they make a fisher price one that is reasonably priced and toddler proof [meaning it can fall down a flight of stairs and not shatter].
Food. In order of preference: a hot dinner delivered at 5pm (with advance warning so I did not attempt to cook), gift certificate for ordering in pizza, meals for my freezer so I have to do no prep work and just put something in the oven or crockpot.

New board books (DS1 destroyed quite a few of them), a few new outfits, dinners and small things to make DS1 feel special.
I actually disagree on diapers unless you know what brand they preferred with their first because that's what they'll use by default (at least at first) with their second.

Did she make a registry? I would just pick something off of that. Most people I know make registries for additional babies even if they are having a shower.
