My son has been in daycare now for fifteen months (he is 24 months), and we are still constantly getting sick. He actually is doing better - he had a constant runny nose and occasional ear infection for I swear a straight ten months. Now he might get snotty for just a couple of days, and then it goes away for a few weeks. However, I get hit hard every time and get a full blown cold literally once a month that lasts for a good 5 days up to a week. It's even gotten to the point that it's embarrassing, because it always comes along with a very hoarse voice, and I feel that clients and colleagues are going to wonder why the hell I am always so sick and raspy sounding.
I've started taking a multi-vitamin, along with a vitamin C and vitamin E supplement. I typically get around 7 hours of sleep. So I feel that I'm doing what I can to stay well.
Has anyone else experienced such frequent sickness for so long after putting LO in daycare?
We started to see some relief this past year. They still get sick and they still have snotty noses but they are spread out a little further and they are usually not as severe. I get sick whenever they do too and I think it is mostly due to the disrupted sleep.
I know that is not that much help to you but I wanted to say Hang in there and I hope it gets better for you.
With both kids they were sick the 1st yr a lot. DD2 is always congested w/ a runny nose & cough;I thought it was a cold. It turns out she has really bad allergies. The dr prescribed her Zyrtec and it seems to help but she still goes through some bad days.
With the summer months approaching, hopefully, your LO is feeling much better. You may want to check on the allergy route too.
I wish I hadn't read this. I'm just coming out from under a week long sickness that completely wiped me out. I can't keep missing work like that! DD has only been in daycare for a month, so I have a feeling we have a lot more sickness coming.
I'm planning to take probiotics and get back into running to boost my immune system. When I use to run regularly, I never got sick.
