I've had my daughter's middle name picked out for a while now, but my husband is now saying no way to it. He thinks my first name would make a good middle name, but I'm a little worried about what family will think. I do realize this wouldn't be an issue if we were naming the baby after dad. Fwiw the name would be Natalie Elizabeth.
I love it. Because, like you said, no one would think anything of it if you gave a baby Dad's name.
My middle name is a good/popular middle name (Mae) and I'd pass it down. It's also a family name on my side, anyway. Elizabeth is a really solid middle name.
I guess it depends on your family, but I don't think most would say anything. I knew someone who gave BOTH of her daughter's her first name as a middle name. (Her argument being that they both got her husband's last name - also her older daughter had a version of her father's name as her first name.)
My daughter and I have the same middle name Katherine, if I ever have a son he will have the same middle name as dh, both of our first names would not make good middle names, I say do it, it will mean so much to her

sorry- but why would your family think anything bad about that??? And why do you care what they think??
one of my son's middle name is Mayer, which is part of my maiden name. Many cultures name their children with the mother's maiden name as the middle name - it's quite common... so i don't see why there is anything wrong to anyone about using your first name as a middle name ---- I find something odd about anyone who would say something bad about that.
and fWIW - my niece's middle name is her mom's first name.
