I haven't done prints in a few years, but I did up some wedding pics on Shutterfly about 4 years ago, and was happy with what I got. I can't speak to the quality this day, but I'm forever getting promo codes that equal a great price per print.
That said, the talented photo girls on theh board are probably more up on who has the best prices/quality.
I only use Mpix for any size. Otherwise I have defeated the purpose in any post-processing (colors are off, printed too dark, etc). So if the colors are off or it's printed too dark, I know it's my fault, lol. Their customer service is also amazing.
I've been generally happy with Shutterfly, but their print quality isn't as good as Mpix, imho. But I had some calendars made for Christmas and was really happy with the quality. (But I'd still stick to Mpix for prints.)
Mpix also has really nice options for finishes and whatnot. If I want to hang it on the wall, I really like the metallic finish. If I'm just making prints for my scrapbook, then I just use the regular matte finish. I'm not a glossy fan.

Not a photographer much (I did some B&W work in high school), but I hate glossy, too.
I'm not sure I knew a metallic finish on prints existed ...
I don't think you'd want to overdo it, but it's kind of cool. The pic that's in my siggy is actually a Christmas gift for my aunt, who is an OBGYN, and I had an 8X10 printed with the metallic finish for her. It was less than $3 and turned out pretty nice, except that the feet are cut off, which bothers me every time I see the picture, but oh well.

You're too funny ... I never even noticed your feet were missing
