I want to get H a graduation present. I am spending a lot on his bday (which is next wed and his graduation is this sat), so I didn't really want to buy him something $$, but I feel like it would be nice if he had something to open from me. Even if it was just something sentimental. Plus he was so sweet and got me a 'graduation present' as a thank you for being supportive (gah, he's so sweet) - he got two tickets for me to take a friend to see American Idiot! I'm taking a long time friend who has gone with me to the past two concerts and I've heard great things about the musical.
Anyway, I'm not really sure you guys will have any ideas, but I was hoping a discussion would get my brain thinking...
ha! that pen is funny - who knew they made something like that. I'm not sure he would use it much though (mostly because he wouldn't want to lose it). I really like the watch idea, but not sure if there is a enough time because I am stupid and didn't start thinking about this sooner I was so focused on the bday party (and I know afterwards he will think it's plenty for bday/grad, but he won't know about it yet), I kind of forgot about graduation.

Something that wouldn't be too expensive could be framing his diploma. Since it usually takes awhile for the actual diploma to arrive you could temporarily frame something else when you give it to him, like tickets to an event (like what he gave you) or just write a sweet note.
You could just go buy a watch and take it to a place to get engraved. There are a lot of places that can engrave while you wait.
oh really? I assumed it would take weeks or something. hmm, does anyone have a recommendation for a place? also, I have two options for this potential present:
1) H has a really nice watch that I gave him a couple years ago for Christmas. However, he doesn't wear it to the hospital. I have time off Thursday and it just so happens he has to do some hospital training that day, so I know he won't be wearing it. I could take that watch and surprise him with an engraving (he won't have a reason to wear it until Sat and if he looks for it on Friday I'll let him freak out for a day, haha).
2) He has said that since he doesn't like to wear his nice watch to the hospital, he wants to have a 'cheaper' alternate watch. So I could find him one and engrave that.

two very good framing ideas... I think I should do this in addition to the watch if I do that because this is pretty cute.

Pricey, but Greenlake Jewelry does amazingly good engraving. Less pricey but I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable entrusting them with a quality watch, I had a flask engraved for H at Something Remembered at Southcenter and they did a good job.
I don't know what you and your H like doing, but if he's into more experiences than not, would a homemade picnic at Greenlake or Golden Gardens be a sort of nice intimate gesture/present type deal? Maybe with a card.
My husband is less thrilled when I get him things as much as when I do things for him (including letting him sleep in until whenever on the weekends - the latest was 1AM - I was going crazy but stayed out of the bedroom so he could sleep.)
Another note... one of the best gifts I ever got from my husband was when he made me a 'coupon' book (on a website, complete with clickies and 'shopping cart' type deal - yes, we are totally nerds), for things like a massage, tickles, hugs, kisses, movie nights what not. It's cheap (costs nothing unless you are as nerdy as he is and make a website), and sentimental and kind of conveys how much you love/care/understand what he likes and went through?
Now that I remembered that, I remember I still have like 5 coupons to redeem for massages.
