I just went to pick up a sandwich from Potbelly and I look behind me in line and saw Mitch from Modern Family! I love Jesse Tyler Ferguson. He looks exactly the same in person and had on a snazzy bowtie. He's in IL today speaking about gay marriage legalization, but I'm not in Springfield or the city, so I was very surprised to see him there!
No one else seemed to care, but I was completely geeking out. I just barely restrained myself from asking for a picture.
Once I walked into this dive-y bar in the village in NYC. It was pouring rain and I was literally soaking like a drowned rat. Sitting in a corner booth and eating a burger was Jon Stewart. He had this baseball cap pulled way down over his head so I could tell he probably didn't want to be bothered, but I was totally staring and swooning.
Also I once rode in an elevator in NYC with the guy who got brain cancer on ER. What is that guy's name? It turned out he lived in the building I was in.
OH! Also the owner of Jordan's furniture was in line behind me at a pizza place in Providence once. He is kind of a local celebrity who is always on the commercials for his furniture store.
Very cool! I saw Nicole Kidman when my best friend and I were touring San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice and once walked by Kate Bosworth on the street in Manhattan.
He was wearing a bowtie! He looked adorable. His partner was there too. I wasn't sure if it was another celebrity, so I just google imaged JTF and saw his partner in the photos.

My mom took me to filming of an old early 80s TV show and I got one of the stars' autographs.
My dad and I saw John Corbett at LAX once and my dad had no idea who he was. My mom ran into him at Brookstone a month later and chatted him up for a while.
Johnny Depp came to my parents' hometown and was at the same restaurant as them. my mom leaned across to whisper who it was to my dad, and my dad (who is hard of hearing) yelled, "Who's Johnny Depp???"
When I lived in Baltimore my dad and I were in line at the local coffee joint when one of the cast members from Homicide: Life on the Street was there. It took all I had not to gush. And yes, I realize this post is dating me severely.
Also while in Baltimore, Gene Hackman was flying first class on my flight to LA. We had to deboard because of a computer issue and I saw him at the ticket counter, trying to get home like the rest of us, ha ha.

Jeff of Jeff & Jordan on Big Brother/Amazing Race from a few years back is one of DH's IRL friends. Idk if this counts as an encounter since the encounter happened before his fame.
One of my closest childhood friend's boyfriend (another fellow classmate of ours) is in a famous band. I haven't seen him in years but when I'm back in town and have free time, she and I try to get together. (So therefore I never pass Miso's celebrity friends test, even if technically said guy's # is in my phone - it's just because of her, lol)
At a celebrity golf tournament when I was younger I met former VP Dan Quayle. He was very friendly and chatted with me for a long time. Don't worry, spelling and Murphy Brown were not topics ;-)
Mere sightings: Johnny Depp - Public Enemies was largely filmed here and they used my old job's building for shots. I watched them film one of the heist scenes. Michael Jordan

A friend of a friend was an extra in a Brad Pitt western. The family is also very involved in chuckwagon racing so somehow Angelina wound up at the family ranch for a wagon ride with one or two kids (they didn't have the rest yet). This guy's much older dad took them for a wagon ride and after kept talking about what a lovely woman that Brad was dating, how pretty she was and how "he sure did well for himself, she's a looker"
NO IDEA who she was. I don't think they even tried to explain because they found it too funny when he'd remind them of "Brad Pitt's pretty girl friend and her kids"
Very cool! I saw Nicole Kidman when my best friend and I were touring San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice and once walked by Kate Bosworth on the street in Manhattan.
I used to take music together classes with Nicole and Keith and their daughter.
I rode in an elevator with Hillary Clinton, Rachel Maddow, and Kal Penn (not all at the same time...)
I rammed Rahm Emmanuel with the door walking into a coffee shop, and almost made him spill his coffee.
I saw Alec Baldwin standing on the street, talking on his cell phone.
I was behind Arianna Huffington in line at Starbucks the week before Christmas. She was buying a LOT of Madeleine cookies. Like, all they had in the store.
I guess most of these are pretty much DC celebrities.
I was also on a National Telethon once, like 10 years ago. I met a bunch of C-list-type celebrities there.
Evander Holyfield was on the plane train in Atlanta with me. I did not know who he was, and he didn't have more than maybe 1 friend/handler with him. Someone asked for a photo and he posed for it but not *with* the person, just a shot of himself in it. Seemed nice enough. (I only know who this is because he stood right behind me on the escalator going to the train, everyone was staring at me, and I thought there was something on my face or something until I heard someone shout who it was!)
Anderson Cooper in first class on my flight from Boston back home (I was walking by on my way to coach)
Met Matthew Morrison through work, and the afterparty that i got to attend I was in close proximity to JC Chasez from NSync, Harry Shum from Glee and Chord Overstreet from Glee.
Also met Chris O'Donnell through work
Saw John Mellencamp, his wife Elaine and their kids at a grocery store in Bloomington, IN
Tony Dungy at Target in Indianapolis
Met Aarti Sequeira (From Food Network Star and Aarti Party) through work...had dinner with her and a few coworkers of mine actually
I once rode in an elevator in NYC with the guy who got brain cancer on ER. What is that guy's name?
ZZZZOMG. Anthony Edwards. ER is my favorite show of all time, and Dr. Greene was my favorite character. If I ever saw him or Julianna Margulies I would be beside myself, and I'm sure I'd say something horribly stupid.

And I LOVED Homicide. I was so sad when it ended.
I live in Baltimore and LOOOOOOOVED Homicide. One of the best shows ever on TV. The police precinct is still there, though it's totally empty, derelict, and a bum magnet. Whenever I pass by I have to fondly look at it though.

Met Candace Cameron during her Full House days. Saw Corey Feldman at a Paul McCartney concert at the Hollywood Bowl. We had better seats Rode on a plane with Alan Thicke? Think that's his name. Didn't know he was famous til we got off the plane. Met Ian Ziering from the original 90210.
