Hi! I'm not sure if you saw my post in your request for paint help that xp'd here from H&G. I wanted to tell you how beautiful I think your house is. I love the dramatic wood and fireplace. I get so jealous seeing pictures of houses like yours since the houses in Vegas are so boring and lacking in character. I know several people in H&G mentioned painting the wood and brick but I just love the way it looks.
I also posted a picture in the thread of a house we looked at with similar wood coloring and wood ceiling beams. They painted the room a light brown color that I think would work well in your house. Good luck. I'd love to see how it turns out!

You are so sweet. We love our house too. Funny story about how we got it: I first saw it for sale online and loved it, but we'd just bought our first house and it was way more than we could afford, blah blah. Three years later, DH happened to be driving through the neighborhood and saw it was back up for sale, this time by a relo company who had slashed the price to unload it. We ended up buying it (even though we still owned our first house - whoops!) and brought DS1 home from the hospital two months later.
Thank you for your thoughts on the paint, I like the pic you found! I will be sure to update if I ever get around to painting the living room.
Great story! We are in a similar situation and I sure hope my story turns out like yours. We saw a house on the market that we loved back in 2010 but we weren't in a position to buy. We have since sold our house and have been looking at houses for a year and a half trying to find something we like as much as that other house. Lo and behold, guess what came on the market last month? The house we LOVED back in 2010. The only problem is that the seller is asking considerably more for it and I can't figure out why. It doesn't look like he's made any improvements and even though our market has improved somewhat, it's only within the last few months and not enough to justify his huge increase on a 2010 purchase. We are going to wait it out a few months and see if the seller comes to his senses.
Good luck with the painting, can't wait to see how it turns out.
