I am looking for a storage ottoman to replace our coffee table. I don't want to get a "disposable" piece of furniture (aka Target, Walmart), but I'm also not sure that I want to spend $600 for something from Pottery Barn/Crate & Barrel.
Can you recommend your higher-quality ottoman or a store you purchased it from? I am inclined to get black leather, but am not fully opposed to fabric. Thanks!
It's $700, though. I'm convinced that you get what you pay for when it comes to furniture, and since we have this in our family room and it's heavily-used, it was worth spending more on. We also got our sectional for that room at Bassett.

Yeah, I have been searching on line all day for ideas and I have a feeling we are just going to suck it up and pay a ton for one. I really want real leather, and like yours, mine will be used in the living room so it needs to last. Thanks for the Bassett suggestion!

You're welcome.
I don't think all furniture is worth a splurge (and $700 isn't even a splurge for some people). But the furniture that gets the most use is worth it to me. I would rather pay more for something that lasts longer rather than buy cheap stuff that needs to be replaced frequently because it doesn't hold up to everyday wear and tear in a busy room.
I have a leather ottoman from Overstock. It was like $400.00 but so so worth it. It's five years old and still looks brand new. I highly reccomend. They don't have mine anymore, but there's other options that seem equally as great.
I have one in my toyroom that was a $100.00 from Target I use as a toybox. I have to give it up for that thing. It gets beat on and used daily and still looks great a year later...so I wouldn't entirely discount Target either.

We bought two round leather storage ottomans from overstock. They were $150 each and have been well worth it. We've had them for about a year and a half with no issues.
Well... mine's "disposable" I guess. It's from Target, was $100 on sale, and has held up really well to our pittie slobbering and laying on it all of the time. I'd recommend it, honestly.
I'm not sure where you are, but if you're anywhere near Seattle Kasala has a couple huge sales a year where their expensive furniture is anywhere from 25%-50% off. We got ours there last year. I think we paid under $400 for charcoal gray leather and it doesn't show any wear at all (we put our feet on it, eat on it & the cat loves it too). I don't think they have any locations outside the Seattle area though.

Can I ask how long ago you got yours? We have a ton of Target furniture, but it never seems to hold up for more than 5-7 years before it starts to look rough and needs to be replaced. I don't want to replace this ottoman in a few years, but I DO like the look of the Target ottoman. Thanks!

Ours is almost 2 years old and looks brand new. Our 65 lb dog lays on it, drools on it (and it wipes right off), and we use it as a coffee table. Looks like we bought it yesterday still.
I don't have a storage ottoman, but I would definitely check overstock. They have yet to fail me on the quality of anything I've purchased from them, Just read the reviews from other people when you're looking at a particular item.
