I am PISSED. They told her we now have to give them hotel reservations for every second she is abroad, even if half of it isn't in Spain. Also, we have to send them certified copies of her insurance.
Because with an ironclad US contract in hand for next year that includes a solid J-1 with salary and insurance, you think she's going to want to stay illegally in a country with massive unemployment and a financial crisis. REALLY!?!

Good. Lord.
Thought: Do you have any friend there who would be willing to say you're staying with them?

I blame Rajoy
Sorry to hear they're being jerks.
I blame Rajoy as well, just to blame the idiot. But the thing is that in Spain, in order to have a friend vouch that you're staying with them, they have to write a letter and have it signed by the police...a process that takes two weeks and costs money. Unbelievable. Because we actually do have a ton of friends who live there!
