In my core group of friends, about ten of us that hang out several times a week, two of them will likely be dead before 2014. One of them has been fighting brain cancer since 2006 and there's nothing they can do anymore. Another one found out he has pancreatic cancer in October. He just told us today, via facebook. He also admitted that he lost his job and has no health insurance. In October, he was given six months to live, but now he doesn't even go to a doctor anymore. He can't afford it.
Just feeling horrifically overwhelmed and needed a place to vent.

Oh my gosh that is so awful, muppet. I'm so sorry. It's so hard to think that your friend is battling this disease without affordable access to healthcare.

Oh no, reading that broke my heart. As a nurse I deal with a lot of cancer patients and it seems that they are getting younger and younger. My heart goes out to you and your friends. Hugs.
I just feel bad because there's nothing I can do about it. The guy with pancreatic cancer lost both of his parents in the past two years and is feeling alone. He got on a train last night to NYC for no apparent reason. He just felt like taking a train trip to clear his head. I don't know if and when he'll even be back.
They both know we're here for them, but other than that, I don't know what to do. It just kind of sucks.
That's such a terrible situation and it's so sad that it seems he's given up hope. Stories like these make me endlessly thankful for public healthcare.
My grandmother passed last August from pancreatic cancer. I wouldn't wish that in my worst enemy and I am so sorry your friend has it and you're going to have to see him go through that. I am sorry for your other friend too....just sucks a big one!
I'm so sorry to hear this. There's nothing to say that will truly make you feel better, but you always have our support and I wish the best for your friends, their families and friends. Sorry Muppet
I'm so sorry. It does fucking suck. My cousin passed away from pancreatic cancer on NYE after a 3-year battle. He was a rare case to live that long with it. I'm really sorry to hear about your friends.
