Whatever you have that you would use in a Mac'n'cheese... To be honest, even cream cheese might be pretty good. I use marble because that's what I had on hand.

I was trying to figure out what to give Pey for dinner tonight. So I hopped up at made this. Sorta. I boiled the noodles in breast milk and added in Colby jack cheese. She loooooved it. She's refused pasta for weeks!! She finally eats it!! Thanks.
DD gets pastina several times a week- I freaking love the stuff, it's so versatile. I've been making a similar dish, but instead of boiling the pastina in milk, I use chicken or veggie broth and stir in ricotta when it's done. Delish and she loves it
From my experience at the grocery stores around here, it's usually on the top shelf in the pasta section, probably because most people don't know it exists and they put the stuff that people impulse buy at eye level. I doubt many people impulse buy itsy bitsy pasta.
Trudy? Did you and your 226 orders of Amazon by all the damn stock? Seriously almost every variety on Amazon is sold out/on back order. :-)
Ha, maybe . Go to the store and buy it you lazy bum!
I wanted that feeling of momentary instant gratification but I don't need 8 boxes of it. I texted a photo to DH who is stopping by the store on his way home. We will see if his mission is a success.
Apparently groceries in town don't carry Pastina, so I got some mini rotini and mixed it with Cabot extra sharp and mozzarella and R's formula...she devoured it!!!!
I tried this tonight, but since we only had extra sharp cheddar, I tossed in a little mascarpone to soften the flavor. She won't touch it :-( I couldn't find pastina last time I looked, so bought a similar tiny pasta that's got a tapioca texture. Maybe that's the problem? We're struggling with textures beyond purees right now. Will keep trying!
I'm shocked you guys are having a hard time finding it! Maybe it's a north east thing?
When you mentioned it the first time, a couple months ago maybe, I looked for it at the grocery store and there was a bunch of it. So, the PacNW has it, too.
I am going to look at our local Italian "market" and see if they carry it. If not, mini rotini it is! The texture of the rotini made it very easy to grip.

***Ouiser's iPhone was here***
I'm surprised it's difficult to find. They should have it at any major supermarket. I get it at my local market but see it everywhere. Hopefully you have some luck getting a box or two!
