I don't want to pay for a monthly gym membership again because it min $45/month and you have to commit to a year membership and with the inconsistency of my back pain, I'm not willing to throw that money away any more.
Sooooo I'm thinking about grabbing one or two workout DVD's to try. Anyone have any to recommend? I would prefer something that I don't also have to buy a bunch of gear to do the workout.

I've done the 30 Day Shred and it isn't bad. I also did Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism and it's a little higher impact than I like (I had knee surgery and it doesn't function at 100%) but it was easier to skip over stuff I couldn't do.

With the 30DS, you only need some hand weights, which is nice. The other you'll want a yoga mat with, but I haven't bought anything for working out past that.
Last I checked on NetFlix they didn't have any workout videos, have you seen them recently?
Goals: Lose weight (Ideally I would lose 50 pounds, but I'm not worried about numbers at this point), tone up my mid section, thunder thighs, and arms, and without causing too much stress on my back.
I can handle hand weights, they are usually pretty cheap.

I had a JM Yoga DVD too (I loaned them all to my SIL and I will never get them back so, whatev..) that I never tried. I know that's supposed to be good for strengthening your core so you might give some yoga a go too. I have a bad back (I'm 5'1 and toting around a 32I bra -- that's 6 D's!) so I should probably do some yoga too lol.

Given your goals (and back issues), I like Crunch Fat-Burning Pilates, The Firm Power Yoga, and the NYC Ballet Workout #1 ... none of them are too strenuous on your back. The power yoga instructor is a little chirpy, but she's tolerable.
If you want something a little more active, I like the Yoga Booty Ballet series. Totally fun.
I'll share my DVD schedule with you. You may or may not want to get these. I will say that I also purchased an elliptical from Pro-Form last year. That was the BEST thing I have done fitness wise! I have a great cardio machine in my own home that I got with no interest on a 6 month payment plan from them. I roll out of bed each morning, through on some workout clothes and knock out my Cardio before I'm even fully awake. In the evening, I do these DVD's for strength training:
Monday: Turbo Fire-Abs DVD (20 mins) and Brazillian Butt-Lift (27 mins) (Don't laugh, it's pretty awesome!) Tuesday: Turbo Fire - Strength DVD - Part 1 for 30 minutes Wednesday: Mari Winsor Pilates DVD - Her standard floor routine for 55 minutes. Pilates = Great for Core exercises Thursday: Turbo Fire - Strength DVD - Part 2 for 30 minutes Friday: Anna Caban - 25 minute Pilates DVD
Starting this year, I'm going to be adding a Rodney Yee yoga DVD on Saturdays.
I use the BeFit channel on youtube. They have a few Jillian Michaels workouts on there that I have on DVD, but it's easier to just pull it up online. Of course this wouldn't work if you don't have space to work out in front of your computer and cant sync your TV to the internet. I prefer to save my $$ for home decor
I'll look up the BeFit channel, I have 5 laptops in my house and internet to my tv so that is no problem
I would LOVE to get an elliptical but we are on a money semi-freeze since we are saving for the wedding and I think that would be pricier than a gym membership for the year.
Fia- They only had a one year contract for the workout videos and haven't been able to re-up the contract.
Checking out my library, but I do live in a pretty po-dunk county

I used 30DS to lose the baby weight after DS (25lbs or so). I stayed on Level 2 because I wasn't a fan of Level 3, and it worked well for me. I did it 5 times a week.
i don't have a great lower back and i love jillian's 30DS. i just watch it on demand from my cable provider.
i also like pilates workouts for more toning, but still getting my cardio worked up (more than yoga), but i also have a elliptical for me to do if i don't get my heart rate up enough. i have really old dvds of the pilates (or i just try the ones on demand, too and find ones that i like)--i don't remember the name of the pilates instructor that is on my dvds.
