I'm sitting on a train, trying to make my way home from Toronto. We were there for 5 nights visiting family. As usual, DD was an awesome little traveler! She never fussed on the 12 hr train ride up there and really went along with everything we did. She even did fantastic during our 9:30 NYE dinner reservations. But, the entire time I kept thinking to myself "how the hell am I going to do this with three kids? Two the same age?!" Oy!

We haven't used any kind of public transit with our guy yet, just the car (unless you count the scenic railway we did in October). He's a good traveler but I'm not sure how he'd be in a situation like that. Hopefully all of yours are good travelers!
You'll have a good window in the beginning when the babies are tiny (though you will have a shitload of stuff to schlep around) and then it will be much more difficult for awhile (about 3y) and then it will get easier again in terms of getting around/doing stuff.
Now, I can't account for temperaments since my 6.5y olds would have never made it though a 9:30 reservation and after 3 hrs in the car, they are itching to get out!
ummm, yeah, it might get a bit trickier... just hope they have the same temperament as JB?
Travel is my #1 con to baby #4
Right now you're my 'family of five' model. Each time I see (read about) you doing some outing (even just day to day life) it gives me hope.
aww We don't travel in the same way you guys do, but we get out and do stuff. I would go crazy if we didn't. Car trips are totally do-able and we are planning our first plane trip for next spring. If a #4 graces us, we'll just be doing our travelling from an RV!
Travel is definitely modified with a big family, but its still possible if you want it to be.
I have 7 siblings (no twins though), and traveled quite a bit when there were 4 of us (including tons of car trips, a few plane rides and a cross-country RV trip). I also have lots of twin clients who travel, including a mom who flew cross-country with 5 week old twins. I'm sure you'll figure it all out!
