Yeah that's fucked up. I am so sorry. Jake had to wait for paperwork and everything but they had it drafted. They gave him 1 days notice and were still able to get it on time.
Well that's another bright side, they weren't organized or smart enough and for all of SueSue's reason may have left the door open for a wrongful termination IF you want to go that route. I do have a friend who has done it and hasn't regretted it, even though it dragged out for almost 2 years in back and forths and corporate lawyers dragging responses out until the last minute etc. But she's still glad because she was/is right and it is a decent sum of money she is owed in bonuses, savings plans and options. So it was worth it to her.
This is BS, I'm sorry. Consult with a lawyer ASAP. They could ask you to sign something to get your severance. I would make sure I talk to a lawyer before this happens and file for unemployment today. ({) (})
Shit Autumn, that sucks. I hope you flip your disgusting coworker the bird when you leave.
I actually left the meeting, grabbed my stuff off my desk and just walked out without saying a word to anyone.
I also didn't finish any of the work they need done on Friday afternoons so they can have fun trying to finish it on time today.
I am a little smug though, because there are some things I was doing that other people in the office don't know how to do, so not sure how those aspects of the job will be able to happen going forward since they can't train a new person on it
( I was working on implementing Constant Contact, their biggest marketing tool at the moment and I was literally the only one who knew how to use it in the office!)

It's good advice that she should follow. I am beginning to doubt they're smart enough to think of that though. It's like they have a checklist of what not to do and they just read the end "to do"
I'm sorry. I hate this sort of thing. Nothing makes me more angry when good people are let go and the garbage is left to stay.
Sorry if I'm not reading this right, you mentioned that it was XX days after you filed a complaint with your co-workker. Did they bring up your complaint you made about your co-worker during this review?
I would call to get unemployment info. We couldn't apply until Jake had received his severance, so we had to wait a week. I don't know if every state is different though.
AutumnRose, I'm so sorry! I hope they're stuck working late doing all the stuff you normally do on Fridays and they all get migraines trying to figure out the new program. Fuck 'em!

If you'd like some professionals to take a look at your case without going to a lawyer I like laborlawtalk.com. Post details and if they have questions they will ask you directly.
Honestly there are a lot of details missing for anyone to say you should sue for wrongful termination.
Oh man, that sucks! What a crappy reason to terminate someone.
Yeah, that's not a reason for termination, especially in light of recent complaints of harassment. That's a conversation-starter on "how can we improve things?"
File for UE. Even if you don't qualify yet, you're on record for having filed. And file weekly, just like you're supposed to.
Take what you have to an employment *litigation* attorney and review with him/her whether you have a case.
Good luck with everything, and I hope there are fireworks there when they realize that they can't get everything done you're supposed to have completed today and there's nobody there who knows how to do it. Karma unleashed.
What a bunch of crap (on their part). I' m sorry, Autumn. I know I' m just a creepy lurker/newb, but I've been thinking of you since you mentioned this review earlier this week. I was just told my position is no longer full time, so hopefully good things are ahead for both of us.
No severance agreement for you to sign right away? What kind of horseshit is that? Dictating a perceived emotion to you is the reason for being let go? Reporting harassment just last month?
Get your stuff together and look at some lawyers. They are super shady.
And I'm really, really sorry this is happening to such a good person. Your H is right though. No more shitty job to spend most of your waking hours hating.
Well that's a good thing. Also good is the timing, new budgets, holidays over, it's a pretty good time of year to be looking for a job. Hopefully you find that's true in your area.
