Not for me personally, but I spent a lot of time travelling as a kid with my parents so I have good memories. I bet if a person hadn't, and then watched Wolf Creek it would be scary. We used to drive cross-country to visit my relatives every year and we'd stop in these little towns with just a few old blokes sitting outside the pub watching the (very few) cars go past. People are so friendly and welcoming. The centre of Australia is so desolate and barren that I imagine it's hugely isolating. Certain spots you wouldn't want to break down.
One creepy thing I remember were the "min min lights" which are these lights that hover in the near distance at dusk. They haven't really figured out what causes them but think it might be some trick of light + dust.
To me, though, uninhabited snowy country a la The Shining would be way scarier to me as I'm unfamiliar with that landscape and all I'd think of is Jack N. coming to get me.!
And he's so YOUNG in it too. Which makes him even crazier. I stomped off to bed (last night) at the elevator/gushing blood scene and STILL had icky dreams. I'm not really selling it to you PC, am I.
