I live in upstate NY and grew up in Northern NY and I say down cellar. Although, oddly enough, I do say "in the basement, not In Basement". So who knows? ha

I have never heard down cellar, but it probably wouldn't throw me. It's like saying "down the shore" rather than"down by the shore" right?
I'm glad you guys explained way back, because I never would have figured that one out. Living in CT now, you probably all saved me from looking like an idiot at some point in the future.

Born and raised in New England and down cellar is completely normal to me. And although I say trunk of the car, I now what way back means. We only use that for station wagons/SUVS where the back of the car isn't separate.
