I was gone for about 4 hours today and Violet was on a hunger strike. I left when she was napping and she napped for 2 hours so she had to be hungry when she woke, and then she still wouldn't eat for another 3 hours until I got home. No breast milk, no pears which are her absolute favorite. She takes a bottle from my H with no problems at all and even holds it herself with a little help.
Does this mean I can never leave her for extended periods?

You can leave her. She's fine and old enough to go that long if she chooses. I would start trying to get DH to do as much solids on the weekends, even if you need to leave the house.
Mine eats fine at daycare and stuff but she is SUCH a mommas girl at home. Lately she is clung to me like a mollusk, when I pry her off and give her to hubby so i can have a minute to myself, the wailing starts instantly. Ugh, so tiring.
DS did this for a while he loved the boob and everything solid had to come from "the royal food tester" as my hubby would call it - by now they are old enough to be ok go this stretch. As long as she is not unhappy about it I would not worry too much. She will make up for it when you are back - be it later in the day or at night. Btw -Miss Violet is super cute!!

Thanks! And very fitting because we always refer to her as Miss Violet
Emmy does this sometimes too and she had a HUGE hunger strike when I went back to work. Wouldn't take a bottle for a few days and so we had to introduce solids before I really wanted to. In any event, she's recovered just fine and eats like a champ. Maybe try to get out a bit more often without her if you can? Use it as an excuse to get a mani/pedi, massage, or go shopping!

As usual, I think she's spot on. Our LOs are old enough now where they will eat if they really need to, but sometimes choose to be stubborn. I think that staying at home all day, everyday with her is definitely a factor in the separation anxiety fiasco. DD stopped taking a bottle at around 5.5 months, and I think it was because she could go longer periods without eating and was willing to wait to get what she really wanted- boob.
