My dogs have never been afraid of T&L Storms however I moved into a new apt and there are three skylights and a big window and I'm on the top floor. The sky is going crazy tonight with the storms and Linus is under the table. Should I go under there and get him? Leave him be? He's not shaking or drooling. Just not wanting to sit with me on couch.
I don't want to do the wrong thing and make it worse. Never saw him do this before.
In this moment, as the storm is going to be here a while how should I comfort him?
Aw, poor baby! When we first got Zeke, he was terrified of storms. Now when it storms, we try to occupy his attention elsewhere. We sometimes fill up his Kong with peanut butter (his favorite treat) or use his Kong Wobbler and fill it with kibble. This keeps him occupied and not neurotic during the storm. He hardly notices them anymore.

No treat or toy would get him out from under the couch area. He's so scared. He went potty at 6:30 and wouldn't go out tonight. I feel awful. I'm not sure how he will hold "it" thru the night. His bladder will be full. I'm so sad to see him this way.
My scaredy cat german shepherd can only be consoled with touch (lean against a leg), petting or something like a Thunder Jacket. Even that doesn't work sometimes because really loud thunder undid all your lies about it being ok. I don't actually have a thunder jacket, but I just tie one of my hoodies around his shoulders. It stops the trembling at least if not the stressed out panting. Sometimes we give benadryl if he is in a serious panic and breaking things trying to find a hole to hide in (he's knocked down the computer desk before trying to go under).
Mine won't look at a treat or food or water or anything if it's storming.
Yours doesn't sound too crazy. He may have an accident if you don't let him out quick in the morning. Mine never has during a stormy night. He's too busy hyperventilating. He must have bladder of steeeeeel, which is fortunate since he won't go out if it's just raining even.

Mine goes absolutely crazy during storms UNLESS she can be with Mommy. As long as she can be cuddled up with me she calms down. A couple nights ago we had a huge storm here. She was pacing, shaking, crying. I called her up on the bed, she curled up between FI & I and went to sleep.
