Allie has been sick once every two weeks since Sept. with a really bad throat infection in July. Each time she runs a fever. Most of the time not over 101. I have an appointment today for her.(9am) She spiked a fever yesterday. 102.9 was the highest.
I kind of want blood work done to check WBC, to see what's going on. DH thinks she's a normal first year in school sick. I am an over thinker.
Is this something that would concern you as a parent? I do plan on asking the pedi today.
It's true that kids get sick more often in school/day care, but Allie is getting sick a lot if its happening every few weeks. That's more than normal. Especially if there is a fever happening also. I would probably be a little concerned because of the frequency it's happening. The family I use to nanny for had 4 kids. I was around for all their kindergarten years, and even though there was the occasional day home from school (sore throat, stomach ache, etc...), it was only a few times a year.
The same thing has been going on with C ever since he started daycare. A new cold every couple of weeks with a cough that won't quit.
He's on Qvar (maintenance inhaler) and abuterol when needed. We also got a referral to an allergist since his pedi wants to rule out any other cause of the constant stuffy nose/cough.
I'd ask her pedi, especially if its keeping her out of school for an extended period of time.

Quick update. A is snuggled on the couch watching Little Rascals. She is feeling fine outside of the temp. (which is back to normal) The pedi seems to think it is a virus, possibly a flu virus. She had the flu mist. We discussed her being sick all the time. The pedi said it is very common with first year students to be sick once a month at this age. Since Allie only went to daycare a few months and part time preschool, her immune system is lower than most kids. If she continues to get sick and stay sick, then we will go from there. We are going to keep a record of temps, times, and symptoms. Hopefully, we can get some answers.
I'm glad she is doing better. It's common to get one illness a month at this age, but it can be worrisome to deal with. Did they run a blood panel to check her baselines? I'm sure she is fine, but my mind always goes to worst case scenarios because of my job.

Not today. We decided to wait it out and see what spring brings. DH was ok with waiting. SInce I am a worse case possible person, I am trusting his judgement.

Fair enough. Hopefully she ends up with a bionic immune system. The flu B that is going around is no joke.
