Will I die if I try to run on a treadmill? I've never done it before but I'd like to restart C25K and it's way too cold and dark when I get home from work to run outside. Has anyone done this? Am I going to kill myself if I try to run on there? Or does anyone have any other recommendations for me to do something to lose weight in the house?

It's really convenient and only a bit less dangerous than birth, so go for it.
It's great for health and fitness and as part of a overall healthy lifestyle will aid in weigh loss, but only if you eat sensibly. So, I'd also get the junk out of the house and meal/snack plan for weigh loss.
I did all but my weekend long runs while training for my irate marathon on the treadmill. I actually grew quite fond of it. Make sure you have fast tempo music that matches your stride.
You'll be fine! I personally hate treadmills as for some reason each minute feels like about 20 whereas outside it's pleasant and the time passes quickly (well, I mean before I had a baby. Now each minute feels like two hours no matter what the surface ha)
I used to like treadmills for intervals, because it was easy to exactly measure. Run fast for .25 mile, jog for .25 etc.
and yes you HAVE to have music. I can not run on a treadmill without music. Outside is fine but if I had a treadmill run planned and no music, I just plain wouldn't do it.

Ok, my phone has my C25K playlist on it. DH matched music to the speed I need to run. I'm starting over but I HAVE to get motivated. I've been talking about this way too long. Thanks for the tips, ladies. Wish me luck!
You got this! Just remember that even though you're running, it's not a race. If one particular workout is really rough, then just repeat it until you feel comfortable moving on to the next. Don't burn yourself out.

kasper...you know I believe in you! You can do it.
Treadmill running is great during the winter. Just start off slow. Maybe slower than you think you need to and adjust from there. Somedays I feel awesome on the treadmill and pick up my pace and feel like I can run forever, other times it's a struggle to meet my 'slow' pace. Just remember you have good days and bad days. Don't feel like you're married to a certain pace.

yes, totally slower than you think. i guess since the treadmill keeps a pace for you, your body can't adjust when it feels tired like it can when you're running outside.
i keep the treadmill at 5.0, which is just above a fast walk!

This is about a jog for me too (at least right now). I tried faster and almost died when I got to week 3 or 4. I find treadmill running easier than outside honestly, they say to do it at 1 incline for the same exertion as being outdoors. But I don't.
They are good for interval training. Also, if you do a high incline and walk it burns similar amounts of calories of slower pace running ( and you get a nice tush and quad burn ).
