DS has slowly been falling on the stupid growth scales. I've been weighing him on our home scales and entering in his numbers. I know it isn't super accurate, but he is even falling this way too. He is now at or around the 10th percentile. He started at the 50th percentile and has been steadily dropping. I was looking at some old pictures of him yesterday and his baby rolls are gone too. He is barely 18lbs now at 28 inches.
If you have a smaller baby, what has the pedi said to you?
DD is dropping gradually as well. We haven't had her 9 month well check yet, but I know she hasn't gained that much since her 6 month check up. Our pedi isn't concerned since she is dirtying diapers and meeting her milestones. My husband and I are both average/tall and were incredibly lanky string beans as children, so I think she will be more or less the same. Also, factoring in mobility is a huge part of it. When they were newborns, all they did was eat. Now, some of our babies are mobile and burning off those calories. Good luck and try not to worry yourself!
Jameson was born at 10 lbs (95%) and is only 25 lbs now (~10%). My doctor has never been concerned since he is super healthy and hits his milestones. Jameson is VERY active and never has been a big eater.

Pey was 15lbs2oz and 25in long at her 9month well check. She is in the whopping 1st percentile. All the doc said is that she looks great, is obviously healthy and happy, and that due to her mobility it's getting harder to keep up with the calories her body burns constantly. I feed her all.the.time, always eating until she is stuffed and throwing food back at me. But she just burns it off so quick. If you are super worried try some healthy fats like avocado and egg and meats.
Have you looked around for a new pedi yet? I would consider it if you have another not so great experience.
Thanks, ladies. I know he is healthy, but he is just small.
I haven't really looked up another pedi. Out of the ones near us on our insurance, he was the only one that I saw who actually earned his MD in the states.
Zoe's itty bitty, too. While I'm obviously concerned about her growing, length wise, I'm not at all concerned about her weight. She's somewhere in the ballpark of 15 pounds. Is he really active?

We have our appointment today and I am nervous too. It seems really common, though, especially in BF babies. I think V is only 17 lbs. she hasn't gained much since her 4 month apt. I'm hoping the pedi is okay with it. If not, I will keep you posted.
All kids grow differently. DD was 16 lbs 2 oz, 30" at 9 months. She was 9 lbs 2 oz at birth. DS was 10 lbs at birth and 18 lbs even, 31" @ 9 months. We may be lucky enough for him to finally triple his birthweight by 3 years old. He was slightly over 39" at 2.5 and weighed 27 lbs. Both are very active and slow gainers. I do remember them asking about his eating habits at his 9 month but they dropped asking after that.
We have a peanut too. J weighed 16 last week at a sick visit (lost 1/2 pound!) and our 9 month visit is Wed. We're having a tough time with food, he started refusing again when he got sick around Thanksgiving. He is just now starting to eat solids again. So all I am hoping for is that we gained the half pound back. I wouldn't be too stressed, as long as he is doing well otherwise!
I feel like I need to find a new pedi because mine makes such a huge deal about her falling off the growth curve, when she just dropped by like a hair on the chart. Our appt is next week, I'm curious to see how big she is now that she's switched to formula.

At Mel's 9 month today she was 17 lb 10 Oz and 29 in. my pedi was not worried in the least! the only comment he made was "wow she is tall!"
I know easier said than done, but try not to worry! You're obviously not starving him, and as long as he is thriving, then I don't think you need to worry.
I also wouldn't worry at all! I know it's hard not to. Mine is also small, he's grown lengthwise but his weight has stayed the same the last few months. It's just because of the crawling, I'm sure of it. DS1 did the same thing, I looked up his chart - no weight gain between 6-10 months! And now he's 3.5 and has been the same weight for almost 9 months. He's a string bean.
Some kids are not made to be chubby, and losing baby chub rolls is part of growing up My DS2's marshmallow thighs are on their way out. It has to happen sometime, don't worry.
Luke is just 17 lbs at 8.5 months. He's always been under the 20th percentile but usually closer to the 10th. I know they say that small babies aren't a concern it's the growth curve and you said he's dropping percentiles. Is he really active? Does he eat a lot? He might just have a fast metabolism.
I wouldn't be worried. We went in just for a peace of mind ear check on Friday. I asked what her weight was since they were checking on a Benadryl dose. She weighed in at 17#8oz. That's only 3oz over her 6 month weight. It was a visiting pedi, and she asked if I was concerned about her weight. I said no. She eats like a horse and never stops moving. I know she gets enough food. I've even started giving her a formula bottle if she wakes before we go to bed just because I know she's hit some crazy growth spurt, and I want to make sure she's getting enough. I think this is just an age where they level off a bit. Plus, transitioning to solids is a bit of a guessing game (at least it is here). She outgrew her bucket seat in height and is almost 30" at not quite 18lbs. I'll be interested to see if they say anything about it at her 9 month in 2 weeks, but I'm not really concerned about it
