I've been PTing Owl for a few months now and so far so good. Since she is selectively mute she doesn't tell us when she has to go but will use the potty when I tell her to go. I started her in Pull Ups and quickly realized that she wouldn't tell me she had to go, she would pee/poo as if it were a diaper so I've had her in underwear during the day which has worked great for her not wetting/eliminating on herself.
I continued Pull Ups at night until we ran out last week, the first night without she stayed dry (she has stayed dry multiple times overnight in pull ups) but has wet herself each night since. I wake her to use the bathroom when I go to bed and again when I get up in the morning, she sleeps in a pack n play at the foot of our bed so she is able to easily communicate when she needs to go. She doesn't like to be wet but she will not say anything when she needs to go.
What do I do from here, put her back in pull ups, set a middle of the night alarm for an extra bathroom trip, continue to let her wet herself and hope it bothers her enough to use her words?
This morning Jess said she found her on the toilet (she got out of her bed and went by herself without saying anything while I took the girls to school) but that she had already peed the bed. She has never gone to the bathroom without being told so I'm wondering what clicked for her.
I'd put her back in pull ups for overnight. Its very common for kids not to night train until much later (in some cases, years). My pedi's rule of thumb is not to night train until they have 5 nights dry.
Granted, none of my kids are night trained and we are looking into using a bedwetting alarm for Sprout soon so you should take my advice with a grain of salt
I wouldn't worry about nights right now either. DD still wears a diaper at nap and bedtime. Sometimes she can get through both dry, but not always. I'm not trying to force it to happen now when we have plenty of time to work on it.
Ditto. The boys were PT during the day for a long time before they were dry at night. We also went with the 5 dry consecutive nights rule which proved to be pretty successful for us. Carter was in overnight pull-ups till 4.5y (Gray about 4y.)
