Tot soccer starts in March and we need to sign Claire up this week if we are going to do it. I think we will, but was wondering if anyone's toddler/preschooler has done a team sport, and how it went? I can see this being the perfect storm of Hell at this age or just really, really cute.
Henry has done soccer, t ball, and tennis. Soccer has by far been the biggest hit - he loves it. So much of little kids sports is about the coaches and making sure it is age appropriate in the way they coach.
DS1's preschool has a visiting program on Wednesdays called LittleSports where they try out all kinds of team sports (just the basics) for a few weeks at a time. I've never seen it in action so I can't speak to the success of herding a bunch of 3 & 4 year olds around! ha.
DH really wants him to learn/play tennis so we've signed him up for a Saturday morning class (with parent, obv) that lasts for an hour, starting next month. It's for 3 year olds. We'll see how it goes. I'm really hoping DS1 didn't get my lack of co-ordination. Also he's absolutely not a risk-taker, he's very cautious, so new things are good for him to try. He won't try something unless he knows he can do it. So we have to encourage him a lot, DH has more patience than I!
I bet Claire will love tot soccer. Is she athletic in general? She's quite tall, right? Let us know how it goes..

H does an instructional co-ed soccer program called Soccer Shots at pre-school and does well but they don't play games. We tried co-Ed tot instructional T-ball last Spring through parks and recs and the boys were way too crazy and aggressive for her. I'm thinking of Fall soccer for her but maybe not if she can just do it through school. She can start softball in 2014 and DH really wants her to but she may be a "for the uniform only" type of girl. I hope to just keep letting her try stuff until she decides what she likes best.

Good input, thanks! I selfishly hope she loves soccer because I was so involved in it when I was younger.
They are looking for coaches, and I'm considering it...but I can barely contain my 3 year old some days, so...
Star - she is really tall (99%) and she seems to definitely be athletically inclined...so here's hoping I don't have the girl picking dandelions during the game. Haha
Her school also has a tennis program at school that she loves, hopefully your DS will like it!

We really wanted H to do soccer, bit she flat-out told us no, even though she loves "playing" with her papa. She tried a tumbling class last year and collided with another kid within the first five minutes and refused to go back. She is in a dance class now, but all they seem to do is bounce around to seriously annoying German songs.
I'd like to get her into a swim course around here, but I think she might be a little too young.

oops, forgot to reply and just found this thread. I think I'll put Adam in T Ball this Spring, I hope he is not shy about it. I am pretty sure it runs 6-8 weeks, on a Saturday morning at the Local Y, so it should be good. When he was like 2.5 we had him in a Cooking Class (so cute!), a Beginner Swim Class (fun), and then a boys "superhero"Gymnastics Class (the best, he LOVED it!!). I'm sad that we stopped doing these types of things when Nolan came along, but I just knew it would be too much for a little while. I hope he likes T Ball and Soccer this year!!!
