Also I think it is really sad how judgmental some people are about this issue. No doubt you don't want any guns or won't step into a knowingly armed home, good for you. But don't judge others for living within the law.
Huh? Here we judge people who wear bikinis with a little too much coverage. You can't expect the choice to put yourself and others at risk of death and injury won't get a side eye or two. (Hiding multiple loaded guns around your house is close to attempting "suicide by intruder")

I judge the hell out of you for owning a gun. I don't care if it is a law or not.

We don't own a gun and never will unless DH ever needed to carry one for work. But 1) that's unlikely at this point given his career path, and 2) if he did, it would never cross the threshold of the house...he'd either have to install a gun safe in the garage to use coming and going each day, or find another wife.
LOL @ living within the law. Would one of the lawyer types here care to make a list of things that were once legal but are not anymore? Particularly things you would judge the hell out of somebody for nowadays? The list is looooong.

You are at risk for death and injury every day, gun or no gun. You are way more likely to kill yourself or family members just by getting into your CAR. I don't live in fear of falling down my front steps, and I don't live in fear of intruders. I really don't get the suicide by intruder comment. The point is that they won't have time to snoop around to find a gun, because I will already have one in hand. It's not like our guns are sitting on the counter with a flashing sign. They are only easily accessible to the person who already knows where they are: me.

We have no guns and have no plans to get any. H is military and would like a gun because he enjoys when he has to go to the range for training and stuff, but I don't think he'll ever get around to actually getting one. I also don't know how licensing works, since he's military and has had gun training, if that means he has a license, or if he still would need to get one. If he needs to get a license I know for sure he'll never bother doing that.
