And best doesn't always mean most expensive, at least in my experiences. Have you ever stayed anywhere that you loved? Please share! (I am daydreaming about a vacation, even though it will likely not happen for a while).

we had a blast staying at the hard rock hotel that is on resort property at universal studios. they upgraded us to club level, which basically means there is a lounge you can only get access to on that floor that has free food/snacks/alcohol/drinks all day. they also had a pool/waterslide thing, with underwater speakers and a huge movie screen which was nice. the best part was the free early entrance to the parks. but being able to just walk 5-10 min back to the room to get lunch or whatever for free was amazing.
Stanley Safari Lodge in Zambia. It also happens to be the most expensive, but it was secluded and we had our own butler. I think there are only eight or nine bungalows on the property. The views from the rooms are beautiful. stanleysafaris.com/
Chapungu Tented Camp in South Africa was also great. "Tent" is a relative term since it had plumbing, AC and furniture but I would love to go back one day. www.chapungulodge.co.za/
A beautiful hotel on the San Antonio River Walk. I loved it. Its historic, and beautiful
I almost always stay here when I'm in San Antonio. Love it!
You neeeeeeeeeeeeed to. It is so awesome. We didn't get a room that over looked the river, but next time we stay there we will. We went there for an anniversary. It was so nice. Right across the river was an amazing place to get chocolate covered strawberries and various other things. Nom nom

I thought of another! Back in November we went to a wedding near Austin and stayed at this B&B. It doesn't look like much but we stayed in one of the cabooses and it was so neat.

I like making it a challenge to get a great room at a great price so my two favourites were the Crowne Plaza in Times Square because we decided to fly to NYC on a whim, booked the room the day of, and were able to get a room for the 4th of July weekend for $78/night and Le Meridien President in Dakar, Senegal because it was a beautiful hotel that would normally be way out of our price range (~500 euro a night) but I found a deal for 138 euro on hotels.com. I love getting a good deal and they were both great hotels.

I really liked the Aria in las vegas. It was probably the nicest hotel I stayed at.
I was going to stay at the chateau frontenac in Quebec city a couple of years ago, but that's when my mom got sick and I ended up staying at a cheap hotel near johns hopkins instead. I really want to stay there one day.
Oh.My.God. The place was freaking amazing! Beautiful, really close to Meeting St and Broad St The bedroom was immaculate and had this huge fur rug in front of the fireplace. So, guess where we slept that night?
so much more expensive than any other hotel we've ever gone to (near 400/night) but access to the dunes at sunrise and sunset was worth it to us. The dunes are spectacular. DH chased an ostrich and stalked an oryx around (not his smartest moves)

we stayed at the avon old farms inn in avon, ct and that was super nice.
I pass this every time I go back to the highway from my parents'.
And this is the ONLY hotel my grandmother will stay at when she visits my parents (once every 3 or 4 years). I've always wanted to stay there.
Also there's a hotel in Marblehead I pass sometimes when I go to the fancy baby store here that I really want to try. But I'm sure it's like 10000 a night.
You know, we've traveled a lot, stayed at a ton of both super fancy and horrible hotels, stayed at all of the nice hotels in Dallas and when growing up I've stayed in a lot of the nice LA hotels and none of them stick in my mind. The Hotel ZaZa here in Dallas is what I would call the best only because the massage I got was fucking out of this world. It was almost two years ago and I still fantasize about it. I also liked the young and modern feel of it but I wasn't blown away by anything but the spa.
