She's not eating very good right now. She will eat a good breakfast. Half to a whole banana, half a waffle, 2-3 strawberries. Then she's done with food. Every bite that goes on her tray she feeds to the dogs. It would be nbd but she's small and I'd feel much more comfortable with her closer to the 50% percentile. Or at least close to 15. She feeds the dogs and thinks its funny. She gets that pleased look in her little eyes and gives me a big grin.
Do any of you have good eaters that go through sucky eating phases?
If it makes you feel better, Aiden was so tiny he want even on the charts for awhile. I think kids just go through phases though. But that breakfast food sounds yummy. I want some waffles now.

Drew hadn't eaten solids for the past 2 days, he sticks his tongue out and blows them back at me or clamps his mouth shut... Awesome! I think it's teething???
I'm sure this is of no help to you but I commiserate. He is in the 12% for weight btw, and 70 for height. I feel you!
Babies have feeding days and don't let there've tiles bother you. Remember they try and fit the obese children on the charts too even if it is right at 100%

Mine go through phases of eating a lot or not much at all. And like A, breakfast seems to be the meal where they will eat better, and the others can be hit or miss. Teething definitely seems to be a big factor too.
They definitely go through phases. I read somewhere that toddlers/kids don't need a lot to thrive. And a helpful tip for parents to not stress too much about the kid's eating (or lack thereof) is to look at it as an average, say, per day or per week. Breakfast is definitely a good meal for my DDs , so if they had that then a bite or 2 at lunch and dinner, then I'm fine with it.
Thanks guys. I'm googling articles about it also and like you all said, it is pretty normal and nothing to get worked up over. It's just shocking to see her barely eat a bite for lunch or dinner when she can usually eat unending. She is getting 1 year molars so that could be it. They should be pretty much in now so maybe she will get her appetite back again soon.

Lila has always been around the 15th percentile for weight. I think all of this percentile stuff is crap. Lila's pediatrician said as long as shes growing on the same track, it means nothing.
She also goes through non-eating phases.. again her pedi said it was totally normal. It sounds like A has hit the "I can feed this to those little people on the floor, and they will eat it... this is so cool" phase. We do not allow the dogs around Lila when shes eating. She loves feeding her food to the dogs, only now she feeds it to them and then tells on them for eating it. Ha.

Aw, I remember one of the boys I nannied for was very skinny. His Mom was worried about it but his Ped said he has way too many obese patients so being a little skinny is just fine!
Yes Chelsea, her pedi has no concern over her size at all. He said if I'm concerned after her 15 month I can bring her in for extra weight checks, but he's happy with her growth pattern and her development. Not thrilled with the amount of histamines she makes when she gets bit by anything, but that is the lucky trait she got from me.
Yes she is definitely going through a phase where she thinks its fun to feed the dogs. I put them outside for breakfast today and made her favorite and that still didn't work though. I'm just going to chalk it up to a stage and keep trying.
Toddlers are notorious for not over-eating, though, too. Maybe she is just full? I know my daughters are done when they sign/sing "all done" and drop food on the floor. And we don't have any dogs.

I know I've heard as long as they eat one decent meal a day, even if they just graze a little the rest of the day, that's fine. She has just found something new and fun to do, so she is amusing herself with that. She'll come back around to eating.

Thanks for posting this because I struggle with this sometimes too. My DS is a small guy too on the % charts. He sometimes does not eat what I think is an acceptable amount. Usually he does well at breakfast and then just ok for lunch and dinner. I feel like if he is hungry and I offer him snacks thoughout the day he is ok. They always say, they will eat if they are hungry. I know when they get to a cetain age they dont gain much weight. I just feel bad because he has pretty much been the same weight the past couple times we have taken him to the doctor. Also, I know teething has a great deal to do with them eating.
Dont stress, like you said if the doctors are ok with her weight then you shouldnt worry, but I know as a parent we worry about everything.
