Just wondering this as I have smelled fish before (aka yesterday) from cube mate(s). I think once or twice in the past I may have eaten tuna at my desk. I don't really care for it though.
BUT I feel that stinky fish that smells extremely fishy (not tuna. Not sure what it was, smelled like rotten fish heads) should not be allowed. Maybe my nose is just too "fish sensitive"? But it really made me gag a bit. ugh
I'm super sensitive to the smell of fish so I say never okay in an office. I agree that hard boiled eggs are worse though! One of my student teaching supervisors ate them everyday and it always grossed me out.

It wouldn't bother me personally but I think if you are going to be eating in your cubicle around other people than you should be eating odorless food...

I'll volunteer to be the bish that comes around and puts an end to the smelly foods in your workplace. I also made short work of a girl who wanted to steam broccoli every day.

I said no, but I wouldn't really be super angry if someone had a contained tuna sammich that they brought out (prepared) at lunch, ate it, then disposed of the trash in a can that wasn't in their cube. I'd be OK with that.

This....I have a tuna sandwich occasionally and I make it at home, keep it in a sandwich bag in the fridge until lunch time, then bring it out and eat it and throw any trash away in the lunch room. I don't think it really smells and if it does it would only be for a couple minutes I guess.
However we had some people in our office that used to heat up fish in the kitchen and it would seriously make the entire floor smell fishy, you could smell it as soon as you walked in the door. And they would do it like every day. It just stopped all the sudden so I assume someone must have said something to them, or they don't work here anymore!

I think you could maybe help this by getting him his own office or something? I work with several smelly people, it sucked really bad when I was pregnant.
I had a guy almost open a can of sardines during a meeting in a itty bitty conference room. He didn't because I told him if he did, I was going to banish him from the meeting.
If I can break into hives over the perfume my coworkers wear, they can smell my delicious crabcakes. I do close the door to the microwave room when heating though.
I like fish to eat. And when I've a fish dinner in front of me, I'm not thinking "ew this smells gross"/blocking my nose as spoonfuls go in my mouth. So maybe it's the microwaving part? the just being at work/condensed area part? Or perhaps he was eating some strange extra stinky fish?
I usually cook salmon or seabass or something. Doesn't seem to have much smell really.
