I'm back from The Big Easy. The food and drinks were awesome, but I'm thrilled to be back home.
Yesterday sucked. We flew from New Orleans to Charlotte, then were supposed to fly Charlotte to Harrisburg. As we got seated on the flight to Charlotte we received a text that our connection to Harrisburg was cancelled. Eh, no biggie we figured we would catch the next flight. I guess the band of storms that came across the east coast yesterday afternoon/evening screwed up flights all over the place.
We first were rebooked to a later flight to Harrisburg. It was then cancelled as we were walking to the gate. Waited in line forever and a day (we were in the international terminal for whatever reason) and a bunch of people trying to get to London had their flight cancelled and couldn't get to Europe until at least tomorrow.
Once we got to the head of the line we managed to get on a flight to Philly. We were totally willing to go to Philly, Baltimore or Allentown and then rent a car to get home. I was totally up for staying overnight in Charlotte and flying home this morning, but S had a shitload of meetings today and there was no way for him to reschedule them at that point in the day.
So we're in the very last row of a 757 (Row 32) and it was the bumpiest ride ever. I was biting S's shirt sleeve to keep from screaming. It was worse coming down than it was during takeoff. We get to Philly around 10PM, wait in baggage claim, and nothing comes out (I had a pullman, and S had a pullman and a bag with his bowling balls). We go to the baggage claim desk and they tell us our bags are in Terminal F (we're currently in Terminal A), which is a huge hike. But it was suggested that since we're getting a rental car anyway to just get on the rental car bus and ask the driver to let us off at F. We'll get our bags and wait for the next bus to come around. S says this to the bus driver and he said it wasn't a problem. So we're riding along; Terminal B, C, D, E... Oh, there we go right by Terminal F. The driver totally flaked out.
Since the bus took us to the rental car building, we just got off there and took car of getting the car and drove over to short-term parking ($2 per every 15 min). We go into Terminal F to look for our bags and our bags weren't there (shocker). Back up to the baggage claim desk we go and they tell us our bags are still in Charlotte and will arrive in Harrisburg today around 10AM. WTF? They never rerouted our bags to Philly.
Resigned to the fact that it had been a craptastic day and it was already 11:30PM we drove home and collapsed in bed. We have to go to harrisburg tonight to 1) drop off the renal car, 2) get our bags, and 3) drive my car home (and pay an extra day worth of parking).
That is definitely a crappy ordeal! I hope you have today off from work, and don't have to do anything other than pick up your bags. Welcome home!!
If only! Sadly, I'm at work today.
All of my make up and hair stuff was in my bag. I was scrounging around this morning looking for make up. I found an old compact with sea green eye shadow and a plum colored eyeliner. It's better than nothing I guess!

Wow, that's a clusterfuck of horrible return trip issues.
Too bad you couldn't take 10 of those swamp waters back with you to cope during all that stress. I hope you had some crawfish while you were down there, even if it was just ettoufee or a po-boy.
