I now live in a black hole of healthcare. I have a ob/gyn here that I'm just meh about, but can't find a good rec for another one.
With TTC my son, we started with our small town dr and after a few m/c, figured out she sucked and started driving 2 hours to an awesome one that all the women in my family who had TTTC went to. He was awesome and totally worth the drive. I was so sad to leave him, but at least I left with a son.
Now we're TTC #2 and have had 2 more m/c and it seems like my dr here is content to just keep trying the regimine that resulted in my son (progesterone, aspirin and lovenox), but hasn't looked into if anything else has changed. I was also 11 weeks at the last m/c and he hadn't brought up at all yet getting lined up with a MFM specialist.
If I thought there was really something else that he should be doing, I would have found a dr in Baton Rouge (2 hours away) already, but I don't know what I would be asking them to do. I just want to find someone that actually offers to use their expertise to fix me. Not just ask what I want to do.
I don't even know where to start talking to someone else. I can't afford going to dr after dr 2 hours away trying to find a better match. That's at least $200 per visit with our plan.

I think I misunderstood your OP. Can't you go to the doctor in that your family all went to and that helped you get pg the first time? Or is that who you are with now? If he is 2 hours away, is there anyone else in that town and you could go to both the same day?

Sorry - confused.
That doctor is 6+ hours away now. He was 2 hours from where we lived then. And we now live 2 hours from Baton Rouge med center which is the next closest place to try to find someone competent.

Ah ok. I would definitely make the 2 hour drive for a second opinion. They may just say that they would do the same as your Dr - at least that way you would have your mind at ease.
I'm so sorry you're going through this Pamela. I would seek out a second opnion. Does BR have any fertility clinics you could try? One of my friends is a doctor in BR- if you want I can aske her if she has recs or ideas where to start.

That would be awesome.
My one try at a fertility clinic resulted in a RE pushing clomid even though I was ovulating like clockwork. He did expertly perform a SHG which was good though (unlike my small town Ob who unsuccessfully attempted a HSG and made it feel like torture). I was also referred to him by crappy OB though.

I'm sorry you're going through that :-( Despite the cost and time, I would definitely go for a 2nd opinion. And maybe even set up a series of just interviews/talks/meetings with a couple of doctors in BR on the same day (so you only have to drive there once). Doing that might cost a lot of money, but to keep going to a doctor who doesn't help you costs a lot of money as well and helps you even less. I think I'd personally prefer to spend 600 dollars (if you'd check out 3 docs for instance) trying to find a doctor that works with and for me, than spending 600 dollars on my old doc, being frustrated by the fact that he doesn't do crap for me.
Pamela- my friend got back to me that she will do a little research and let me know. She said you should expect to go through either Baton Rouge General or Women's Hospital. If she gives me any more specific info I'll PM yu.
