2curlydogs said something in another thread about one of her "comfort books" and I totally have one-- well, several, but the first one that springs to mind is Rilla of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery. It's the last book in the Anne of Green Gables series and for some reason that is the one I turn to when I need comforting.
Haven Kimmel's The Solace of Leaving Early. It's just so lovely, and I think it has the most perfect ending possible. The Harry Potter books are good for warm fuzzies too.

Hmmm....I don't think I have a "comfort" book. It sounds lovely. I might have a couple of comfort authors though. They are my go to when I just really don't want to have to think. I need to completely escape for a couple of hours and I don't have to really concentrate. They are mostly romance authors. Those books that I can read in a couple of hours and I always feel better afterwards.

Several.
The Clan of the Cave Bear books, particularly Valley of the Horses and Mammoth Hunters. Mists of Avalon Anne of Green Gables series
All are books I can pretty just just open to random page and feel "at home." I know what's going on, I know who everyone is, and it's just a familiar, comforting world.

At the sake of being totally unoriginal I am going to have to go with Harry Potter as well. I think comfort books are things you can just read to get lost in without having to really think or pay too close of attention to plot. It takes all of the effort out of reading and just leaves the pure enjoyment.

The View from Saturday Anne of Green Gables series, especially Anne of the Island Emily of New Moon series Mama's Bank Account The Story of the Trapp Family Singers Little House books
Sookie Stackhouse series (I've read the first 9 books about 3 times each already) and, you're welcome to laugh, the Twilight series (which I've read through at least 4 times). Harry Potter also ranks up there, and Nicholas Sparks books when I need a good cry.
I will have to go for Persuasion, Pride and Prejudice, or, more recently, The Sugar Queen or The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen.
Persuasion and P&P because I've read them a hundred million times and I know that they give me the feel goods.
Sugar Queen and Peach Keeper because they're just warm stories about love and life and friendship with just a bit of magic thrown in. Not enough that they are fantasy, but a believable kind of magic. Like books showing up whenever you need one.

Ditto on P&P, for this reason. Dickens does this for me too. As a kid, it was definitely Anne of Green Gables or Little House on the Prairie-- somehow the plagues of locusts and devastating blizzards made me feel warm and fuzzy, I guess.

You should! I would try either of the two I mentioned. I hear they are her best.
