*A girl I work with told me I always look so put together even if it is a school T-shirt and jeans. She said even the kids comment on how grown up and professional I look. (You should see some of the people I work with though, I don't have much competition. We upped the dress code and it's only mariginally better as in..."Hey, there's no holes in your sweatpants!" better.)
*I LOVE LOVE the show McLeod's Daughters. It's an Australian soap opera set on a cattle farm. It's not all trashy like American drama despite the sex and cattiness. Hulu Plus is worth it for that show alone.
*I'm getting Rubes' pictures taken at Sears next week. (Shut it! I'm fully aware they look like school pictures! For 12.95 I get a good amount. She got a cute little tutu with hearts for Christmas. I'm dressing her up in that. It'll be a cute V-day gift for H and the grandmas if nothing else.
*I love how my rearranged bedroom and LR look now. Like can't stop staring at it. Thanks girls!

*tomorrow's my birthday and so I get to pick our eating and drinking for the day. Admittedly, I do this *every* day, but I don't have to cook or help clean up or ANYTHING. Now if I could only decide WTH I want to eat tomorrow ...
*All my Christmas fat has come off, much quicker than it went on, even. So that's nice. It's good to not have to wear my fat pants every day.
*I'm so excited about the new house because it means that we can have parties with people over ... and have room for everyone to be in the same room. At the same time!
I love my house. So soothing. So neat. So me. (Says the woman who just got back from DH's cluttery bachpad )
I'm leaving tomorrow to spend a week with my 90 yo grandparents They were so involved in raising me, I hate that I only see them a couple times a year now.
I'm thankful for the public library. Do you ever think about that? That some entity lets you walk out with as many books as your arms can carry for free? That's a pretty wonderful thing.
I'm thankful for sitting in the tub and reading magazines
And dairy knows that I'm very thankful for the huge news this afternoon that I was accepted into a postgrad program at Georgetown ;D It's the #2 program in the country in the field, so I was actually shaking when I got the email this afternoon. (I wasn't interested in #1's location, so I didn't apply.)

<<< Jealous!!! The scale says I weigh the right amount, but I am still most definitely in fat pants. Could it be that sitting on my butt for the past month has made it spread and caused me to lose all muscle tone?
Happy birthday and I want an invite to a Mrs.J party. Do you do that fresh Alice Waters style? Would love to get an authentic introduction to west coast living some day.

I love looking at houses online. Our plan when we bought our house was to be here for about 5 years. Well, it will be 5 years this spring and with two kids (and hopefully another someday) we've outgrown this place. I am usually much more into house hunting than H is, but I get very happy when he tells me about places he sees online. It means he's looking, too!

Thank you!
My house is always open. Seriously, I LOVE having guests (provided they're not the ILs ... ) so any time ANY of you ladies are in the area, look me up. I mean it 100%. Anytime.
I am not sure how to define my current mode of dinner prep, but it's sure not southern or midwestern. So I guess it's pretty west coast. Definitely fresh. We currently get fresh CSA veggies 1-2x per month (will be increasing that to 2x per month soon) and most of our meals are with those. I saute and roast the veggies, pretty much. Meats are usually either pan-"fried" or BBQed. TBH, I'm not the best cook in the universe, but I can put together some decent-tasting meals.

Um, just in the HOPES of moving to DC, I've had the listings emailed to me daily for 18 months! Lol. And yes, when I send DH a listing and he reacts with something more than "that's nice," I get super excited!

I seriously want to be on everybody's tour list in DC, should anyone make it there
I would love to do a CSA, but I could never use everything before it went bad! (Cough, lay off the goldfish, cough.) Do they have smaller portions at your farm?
Is it nars sheer glow??? I hear raves about that foundation
That sounds good and I do indeed look glowy but not shiny, but I only saw the bottle for a split second. So let's assume that until the water gets cold and I have to get out lol

I don't now if our portions are typical or not, but our farm offers about 25 different options. (And they DELIVER!) We're currently on the "Regular Mixed Fruit and Vegetables" box (regular as opposed to small or large).
This is what we'll get next week: *12 satsuma mandarins *4 gala apples *2 navel orange *2 meyer lemon *1 bunch nantes carrot *1 lb leeks *1 bunch spinach *1 bunch chard *1 butternut squash

Well, last time we got a pound of leeks, it was two. Two REEEEALLY big leeks. I chopped them up and put them in a crockpot fish stew - but you can substitute them for anything instead of onion. Satsumas are pretty small. We have at least one a day each. So 12 of them usually lasts under a week.
* Coming home from work and finding the bed is already made (DH gets up after I leave for work). I actually commented to DH the other day that it made me happy and his response was "That's all it takes???"
* Spending time with our 3 year old nephew. He adores me (what's not to adore???) and we just have so much fun together!
* More and more of our favorite places are reopening after Sandy. Sadly there are many that won't for a very long time or have been totally demolished and will never be the same but I am so happy each time one of our regular spots reopens. It's like getting a little piece of our life back to normal.
What makes me happy lately: -My 8th graders. Yes, they're my favorite class. Of course, I can't tell them that. But I've taught them since they were in 6th grade, and they've all grown up so much and blossomed into such wonderful people. Gush. -Working out. I've worked out every day for the past week and a half. I kind of slacked over the holidays, and getting back into my routine feels really good. -My puppy, of course! -This Starbucks I'm drinking right now... immediately after spin class. The working out has to cancel out the coffee, right?

Congrats Tarheels! Hope your DH gets the transfer too.
These two little things are making me pretty happy lately:
Also, I'm getting ridiculously excited about life after we sell our house. The prospect of not being broke AND not having to do renovations every spare second if everyday makes me squeal.
It is going to open up so much family time for us. I know having to do renovations over spending time with DD is getting to DH. Last night they made a tent in the playroom and slept in it. It was the sweetest thing ever. I know i complain about him a lot on here, but he's the best dad and he deserves more fun family time.
We just need to push these last couple of months and then unload this house!
Enjoying all the wine I got for Christmas. My semi purged tidy house. DD has been super duper fun lately. My clear even skin from using my new skincare products. A good cup of coffee.

Okay, what skincare products? Because honestly I'm breaking out like a teenager again and I have not the foggiest idea why. I'm at the point where I might go see a dermatologist if I can't figure out something over the counter that works.

its nothing acne specific. I was breaking out a lot and thought I would change it up and I got an ulta flyer and it advertised their foaming oil cleanser. I also picked up murad resurgence toner. It was more than I wanted to spend but it seems to be worth it. My breakouts have cleared up and my skin is calmer and more even. My pores are smaller and my skin is smoother. I also use bioelement's all things pure moisturizer. I really like it. This is the best my skin has looked since my dd was born.

I love this show too. It used to be on WE tv a few years back, but they stopped airing it before the show ended and I never got to find out what happened with the characters. I may have to get Hulu Plus now!
Good thread! It is easy (at least for me) to forget the small good things that are going right. Sometimes we (*I*) need to be reminded to do that. Thank you!

The great thing about Hulu Plus is all of the episodes are on there and you only get charged by the month..so once you're done you can cancel it no worries or stress! We don't have cable or much other stuff in the way of fun so that $8.00 is well worth it to us. For Sesame Street reruns alone..somedays.

-I love our new dog (adopted two weeks ago). She has gotten so much more comfortable in our home, has gotten over her illnesses, and we are starting to see her true personality. I love her and she makes me smile.
-My $10 men's slippers from Target. They are so cushy and comfortable and warm.
-Drinking wine by the fireplace at night
-Having a 4 day weekend coming up (well Teacher's institute for half a day Friday and Monday off so I guess 3.5 day weekend)
