oh man, not the shell sink!!! I remember my grandma picking out a double shell sink for her bathroom. what can I say though, she was like 78 at the time.
And as far as the tub and surround go, I've never done it, but isn't there a specific paint and such for just that purpose? I don't know how much it would cost to have it professionally refinished, but I know that it can be done. I just don't know if the cost of refinishing the blue to a white or something else would be less than replacing it.
There IS a specific paint, but I've never known anyone who's used it so I don't know how good it is.
This stuff works...but it's not my favorite thing either. Our tub was painted when we moved in and started chipping pretty much right away and we don't know how long they had it. We then stripped all the paint off the tub and had a professional company come in and redo the paint job ($300). They gave us a 5 year guaranty so they came back for free to fix the areas that started peeling 1 year in. I'm not sure that I want to keep doing this every 5 years for the rest of my life, so at some point redoing the bathroom entirely may be the thing to do.
So that's my experience for whatever it's worth. If the blue isn't an offensive shade I might try to live with it and play off it in my decor.
I just can't handle playing off it AT ALL, but it's 97% covered up when the shower curtain is pulled... ugh.
I love what you've done! It made it so modern and fresh.
Our shower is pink & blue and also covered when the shower curtain is pulled. I think if I could just re-do the blue floor, I'd be happy waiting to retile the shower.
