We finally saw it last night - loved it. I read the LOTR trilogy but haven't read the Hobbit for some reason. Thinking of getting it for the kindle tonight. Have you seen it? Discuss!
I may have to read the book again. I read it in like 4th grade. I thought the movie was great. From what I remember, they definitely took some liberties and added some things. I also remmeber watching the old animated version all the time as a kid. I'm slightly irritated that it's going to be 3 movies though. I like that they took their time with the movie and did a good job, but there's really no reason to turn Tolkein's shortest book of the 4 into the longest movie....except $$$....which is the only reason for anything of course. I just know I can't see ALL of them in the theater and that's sad.
Oh, and Golem totally looked like a real person and creeped me out more in this movie. The CGI is getting ridiculously good.

yeah he creeped me out too! it was so good! i actually didn't mind that they stretched it out into more than 1 movie, but i just want those stories to go on and on and on... i thought it worked.
