I've been thinking about the domperidone...I had sort of nixed that idea bc my pharm book says there are safety concerns, but I haven't really seen any real research on it in breastfeeding mothers. Do you know of any? Obviously you said you weren't concerned about that? How do I go about ordering from Canada? Sorry for so many questions! Thanks!

It is not approved for this indication in Canada, it is all off-label use. There have been health concerns with domperidone, mostly with arrhythmias etc. However, I believe that these have not been seen in women using it for BF. The health Canada warning came out recently, but I think I would have still used it given that I am (relatively) young, have no history of heart disease, don't have other medical problems and no family history of prolonged QT or sudden death. Here is a CBC news story about it. www.cbc.ca/news/health/story/2012/03/08/domperidone-maleate-drug-.html
I had pneumonia when the twins were about 8 months old and took Azithromycin. I took the precaution of stopping the domperidone at that time. Otherwise I took it for almost 2 years of my life (after each delivery) with no problem.
I think you will have to decide yourself if it is worth it. i have no idea about ordering from Canada. Can you get a US doctor to write the prescription and then go to the online Canadian pharmacies? My lactation consultant was a nurse practitioner and could also prescribe - can yours do that?
To get a RX in Canada, you need a RX from a Cdn doctor. Online or not. I had an adoptive Mom take the domperidone with good results.
My understanding is that if you have a prescription from a US doctor, then the online pharmacy gets one of their Canadian doctors to write the Rx so that it is all legal. However, I have never personally done this so I might be wrong on the details

Yes, something like that. But I think the Cdn doctor has to gather more info. There was a crackdown (in Ontario) about this rewriting practice because of the issue of lack of pt physician relationship.
