I know Someone on my Facebook just posted this as his status: "Apparently, Seattle is the new Compton. Time to pick that 10mm up that I've had my eye on. Bruce Lee said it best; you can't block a bullet."
It's such a shame... I wonder what the flare up is about... We can't really blame is on the economy at this point since it's [slowly] getting better (ie it's not getting worse). Did some gang decide to migrate this way?!? Ugh.. Seattle..

This makes me so sad. And also nervous, since DH works downtown and walks to and from bus stops and stuff. I just can't think about it or I'd never let him walk out the door.
Is there any speculation as to why this is happening?
58th and Roosevelt seems really odd, just completely unexpected location. What IS going on? Violent murder like that has doubled for this year I've heard on the radio.

I think cities tend to go through cycles too.
Picks - as to why it's happening? I have no idea. From what I've read on Seattle Times and Seattlepi a lot of the recent shootings they are investigating to be gang related. They said 4 houses were shot up Saturday night with over 60 bullets. I'm shocked a lot of people weren't hurt in that.
2 dead and 3 wounded in a shooting at 58th and Roosevelt
1 wounded at 8th and Seneca
All within an hour of each other
What's happening to our beautiful city?
As someone said in the office "I'm glad I live in a city where this is big news".
There is a big psychological jump from "zero" of anything to "not zero". And the shooting/shooting death rate in Seattle has been close to zero for a long time. So a couple of them happen within a few days of each other and everyone freaks out. Even with all the shootings this past two weeks, our homicide rate could quadruple and it would still be lower than Chicago.
Violent crime is always juicy for newspapers too. If we get two homicide-free months later in the year, does anyone thing Seattle Times will run any stories about how Mayor McGinn and his police chief beat back the crime wave?
As Winston Churchill said, keep calm and carry on. Don't do anything stupid, but there's no need to panic.
My mom lives a block from the crime scene - she wound her way past blockades to go home and was then too scared to go into her house (DUH!!). I told her just go to Northgate, get some lunch, hang out and wait for an all clear. She argued briefly - she bought perishable food and had it in the car - I told her to buy a cooler and some damn ice. She's hanging out at northgate now. My daughter is a senior at Roosevelt High School. They're on lockdown until suspect is aprehended or police give all clear. However long that takes. I'm glad schools have this proceedure. I don't feel 100% great about it but I'm not rushing to bring her home either.
We had a shooting right across the street from us once, and more within a block or so. It freaks me out a little bit at times, even though I know they have nothing to do with us. One time I could not get in touch with B when a suspect was still on the loose... ugh!
So I guess it is all over now. The police are saying that they think the crazy guy responsible for the Roosevelt shooting was also responsible for the shooting at Town Hall, and then he made it to West Seattle and shot himself in the head.
i think this is horrible..i don't think they got a motive out of him, right? i think that's the biggest thing..is we need to know what's causing all of this. at least it was the same shooter, and not two random shooters in one day, just one random psycho.
