I'd give him small amounts of liquid and see how he handles it. If he does OK with that, I'd just increase amounts and try some basic foods (crackers, etc) and go from there. If he throws up, keep up with liquids until things calm down.

this. sometimes kids just puke and aren't really sick - it happens. But if he's sick you'll know it.. he wont' be able to keep much down - so you'll want to slowly get fluids into him to avoid dehydration which is the biggest worry with a stomach bug.
