I thought I'd gotten a list when we took childbirth class, but can't find it.
They provide all the basics like diapers, wipes, blankets, etc while you're there, right?!? I feel like the answer is yes, but thought I should double-check as I'm starting to think about what I'm going to pack.
Although the hospital I delivered at provided all those things, I wanted D using his own things. Plus, I had DH bring his things home for the dogs to smell. You might want to consider that too.
Yes they provide everything. The wipes are dry and you use warm water with them but they're just fine. And bring an extra bag, like a Publix bag is fine, and clear out the diaper stash that they put in your bassinet each night. They will refill it every morning, and when you check out they will tell you to take all the diapers from the drawer, just not the blankets or linens since they contract those out. But naturally sneak one receiving blanket as memorabilia. Their diapers are size 1 and Amelia was newborn diaper sized so when we got home we put her in newborn size but the 1's were fine for the hospital, especially since they're free and readily accessible. I would bring a pillow you like, a nice soft blanket for the baby, and towels if you plan to shower there. Their shower towels are god awful. I had to call some in from my reinforcements.

I obviously didn't deliver there, but YES to bringing towels to the hospital. In fact, the only "luxury" thing I brought to the hospital was shower stuff: a nice towel, some deliciously scented shampoo, and a super soft, poufy loofah. Let me tell you, my first postpartum shower was HEAVENLY. I was so happy to have all my own stuff and I finally felt like a real person afterwards.
Holy crap, they loaded us up when we left there (maybe because we were being discharged from the NICU)
sara, we had wet wipes, but like I said, maybe my experience differs.
We took home: These long sleeve shirts that were used as bibs when feeding babies that had not learned to make a good suction yet, binkies, thermometers, a metric butt-ton of diapers, and a few of the receiving blankets (Amelia was so tiny in her car seat that we had to roll up several of them to get her to sit the right way in the car seat), some formula samples, tubes for pumping milk into, those Halo sleep sacks that said, "St. Joe's Women's Hospital," Little T-shirts for when they got bigger that said "St. Joe's NICU," and one baby one day and the other baby the next day.
There was probably more stuff, but I don't remember it all and I have put away the preemie things that I wanted to keep already. Definitely bring shower stuff. I didn't mind the towels, but after no shower for 2 days, I would have dried off in sandpaper.
