Friday - Pizza and movie night since L's had the flu all week. We read on our new Kindles after the kids went to bed (I am reading so much more now that I don't have to actually go to the library or buy books!)
Saturday - putzed around in the morning and then started putting the new media cabinet together. Of course it took 2x as long as I thought it would. A co-worker called and told me that another co-worker's husband was killed in a swimming accident while they were vacationing in Mexico...so sad. Went to lunch, dropped L off to get her hair done and took the kids to the mall and the grocery store, home for a viewing of the Star Wars movie for the kids and then L and I watched Hope Springs (if you ever need a movie to jolt you into not letting your marriage get stale, rent it. Never thought a Tommy Lee Jones/Meryl Streep movie would give us the kick in the pants to kickstart our sex life again...but there you go.)
Sunday - lazed around reading while the kids played. Finally got ready and went to lunch, Wegmans (holy hell.....), and Costco. Kids watched Princess Bride for the first time while L and I got ready for the week. Watched the GG after the kids went to bed - and I managed to stay awake. Go me.
Friday - We had movie night. After dinner we all got in pjs, made some popcorn and watched a movie on the couch.
Saturday - a bunch of cleaning. Like, deep cleaning. Then after Jelly Bean's late nap we went to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner. We had a $50 gift card and a coupon for a free steam pot so I paid $8 for dinner. Woo-hoo! Best part is watching JB DEVOUR all of the crab, lobster, and shrimp in sight.
Sunday - I went to a board meeting while JB and K put away the last of the Christmas decorations. Then we ran a few errands.
Friday evening we prepped for Disney by buying food, making sandwiches and sorting food into Ziplocs.
I was up at 6:45 Saturday morning, getting kids dressed and trying to make sure we had everything we needed for the day, J had to tell me to get in the car and stop worrying about forgetting something. We drove to Disneyland in all of 20 minutes, there was no traffic at all, it usually takes us about 40 minutes with normal traffic. We waited for our babysitter and friend before heading in, the girls watched a band and danced while we waited. We got on a bunch of kid rides and ate a lot, our babysitter and friend were so bored, I told them to go have fun but they stayed with us. In the evening we heard about the World of Color show at California Adventure so we walked across to that park and waited for it to start, it was AMAZING! We walked around a bit more and decided to leave as the fireworks were going off over Disneyland.
Yesterday we went grocery shopping, I cleaned, and we spent time together.
Friday I made sweet potato chili and when Jen got home we watched 21 Jump Street (funny, but not amazing like all the reviews made it seem).
Saturday we spent most of the day rearranging the nursery for the fourth or so time, this time to separate the cribs and make more play space. Jen ran errands while I cleaned the front closet. We also took a bunch of stuff out of our bedroom closet and started sorting through clothes in an effort to (a) keep all of our clothes in that closet instead of in that closet, the garage, the cedar chest, etc. and (b) move all of the non-clothes stuff from that closet to somewhere else. We got to where we had stuff all over the bed and the floor and the hallway, and then had to go to the multiples family party.
The party was fun, although our kids are too young to do much at the children's museum. It was fun to see all of the other twins, as well as a set of quads. We played in the museum's "baby garden." Mister Baby loved the chiffon scarves. On the way out to the car in the dark I tripped on a raised sidewalk in the parking lot and fell down hard. I was carrying Mister Baby and landed pretty much on top of him, with him in between me and the other curb of the raised sidewalk. There was a terrifying (and endless) moment when I thought both of his legs were broken. It was AWFUL. I managed to get us up (while Jen was frantically putting Lady Baby in her carseat so she could come help us) and tried to check him over, but it was very dark. I didn't see any blood on his head and he was kicking, so I knew his legs were probably OK. He was screaming, of course - I'm sure it was scary. Jen dropped Lady Baby and I off at home and took him to urgent care. Not a scratch on him. Not even the tiniest bump on his head. I guess between me taking the brunt of the fall on my knees and holding on tight and the space on the other side of the curb, he landed pretty soft. My knees, hands and wrists are a mess, but I don't care. He's fine and if one of us is going to be a mess, I'd much rather it be me.
Sunday we spent most of the day at my parents' house. When we got home we put the babies to bed and finished our closet reorganization. It looks so nice now, and it's organized the way it should have been when we moved in. Now for the rest of the house... :-P
Friday night Andrea worked. I took the kids for pizza and ice cream and they were very excited to get to color their own pjs (i just got tshirts and fabric markers).
Saturday morning DW took RB to dance class while i cleaned the car and the other 2 played outside. We all met up for lunch at Bubby's house. Then, I put the 2 girls down for nap while DW took Sprout to basketball. The girls have been fighting colds so they napped until about 4 (way late for us). When they got up I headed to the gym and into the office. DW and the kids had a movie night.
Sunday morning they let me sleep in then we went to church. Quick visit to my parents after, then home for lunch. Daisy fell asleep in the car on our way home so i hung out in the car with her for close to 2 hours (omg). Then we all suited up and went to the pool. Home for baths, dinner, books, and bed.
Zucchini escalated pretty quickly, then ran away. Luckily she had the sense to go to walgreens and call home. (3 miles away) the police were already here, and they went to pick her up. She is okay, but it shot our fri night, and it was a moody weekend. She is going for respite next weekend, at her previous foster home, and we are going to try for that every month or so.
Sat eve we had some friends and their kids over. We did the baking soda and food colored vinegar sensory table and the kids had fun. Dinner, a movie, and some grown up time. Hooray !
It was overall okay. C and I were sick and grumpy (okay, the grumpy part was mostly me), so we put out an SOS on FB for someone to watch Henry for a bit. My dad and stepmom volunteered. I was sooo relieved to know we could get a break for just a little while - and then they informed me that they'd be taking him overnight - AHHHHHH. So amazing for them to do that on short notice.
So C and I lazed around watching tv and had chinese delivered. We also ran a couple errands.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to come across as a pity party. More like a hero's welcome home parade. I appreciate you sharing that stuff with us and feel compelled to tell you what a brave and strong mom I think you are. We've got your back!! (as much as possible via webz)
Yeah, no pity party here, just admiration that you can handle this stuff so well. Just because you know what you were signing on for doesn't mean your 11 year old hightailing it three miles from home is easy to deal with!
Friday - went out for dinner with a friend. Had a really great time and LOOOOOVE the restaurant we went to so much.
Saturday and Sunday - I worked all weekend again. One of my team leads dumped a huge bunch of work on me Thursday at 5 and there was just no way. I'm realizing I need to get better at negotiating reasonable expectations rather than trading my personal life for the sake of a deadline that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
Sunday night - Left for our insemination "vacation". Flight was delayed 2.5 hours due to a runaway beverage cart damaging one of the seats on the plane. They gave us free tv instead of free booze, which is what I get for flying a fake airline. We got in at 11 or so and inseminated at 1 a.m., and I think our timing is really good this cycle! (I may not have mentioned it here - we're doing a real at home ICI while we wait on sperm banking)

Weekend was good. We didn't do much on Saturday, the dregs of the flu/ear infections/bronchitis are still ailing my brood. However, on Sunday I got to have coffee with LV which was great. C and the Kiddos had breakfast with LV's DW while LV and I enjoyed our coffee and just chatted. It is awesome when we get to know our "board-family". After coffee and breakfast we took the Kiddos to the mall so they could ride one of those things kids sit on that goes round and round (correct, I don't know what they call them). Peanut was promised she could ride the train first. I think we spent 8 dollars on that thing. We did buy the Kiddos some clothes...that pushed it a little too far time-wise...Little Man started his I need a nap breakdown. Kiddos fell asleep in the car...C dropped me off at home and took the Kiddos for a long nap ride. The weekend seemed to go by really fast.
