There's a groupon here for a studio that does it, and I've always wanted to give it a shot. I wanted to see if anyone here had done it, enjoyed it, etc.

If you have a groupon, i would do it!!! I am bad at yoga because i cant hold the positions, but am dying to try hot yoga because I hear you burn about 1000 cals.
I tried it for two weeks and really disliked it. It just wasn't for me, but I know a few folks that love it! Be prepared to possibly puke the first few times though. That is a normal reaction.
I only did it once because I wanted to die. It was a hot, sweaty, not-so-friendly reminder why I hate working out. That said, it was an amazing workout and I have girlfriends who lovvvve hot yoga! My sister takes a class twice a week, she swears by it.

Okay this is exciting! I want it to be a challenge, so this is good news. I want to try something different, you know? I'm running and all that, but this seemed intereting.
Cat, it recommends not eating for 2 hours prior on the website for the studio. You think that'll help with the cookie tossing? Or is it just adjusting to the heat?
oh! I also wanted to mention that the first class is the worst! It started to get easier after doing it a couple of times. Bring a ton of water, lots of towels, and don't eat before you go (but don't go hungry either!)
I would avoid food for three hours before because I think I digest slow, but I still got nauseous from the heat. If you are ok being very active in the thick of summer you may be ok, but the heat and the dry along with the heavy activity did it for me. I never actually puked, but they told me it would be normal if I did. In fact the studio I went to made sure all the new students knew where the bathroom was just in case!

Thanks, cat! I'll probably die in the first few sessions, but it'll be good for me. I'll take your advice and do the three hours since I digest slow too. Thanks everyone for the input. I'm back to pretty good shape honestly, but I've got to work on my strength and flexibility some, and I thought this will work out good. I've got 3 races coming up, a 10k in February, a 10 miler in March, and a half marathon in April, and this should give me the boost I need to really get there.
agree with pp's. you will want to die while you're in it, but you will feel AMAZING afterward. Don't get dehydrated, and you're good to go! Let us know what you think!
